ONLYGOT1STARBECAUSE I COULDN’T GIVEIT0!!! AVOID. Went out for a few birthday drinks with friends, and unfortunately ended up being a terrible night. The staff were very rude and unfriendly and still seemed to expect gratuity every time. They continuously ignored us waiting at the bar to socialise between themselves… But what can you expect when the manger was as rude and obviously not happy to help. Also the same drinks round seemed to increase in price as the night got later, this was noticed several times by my friend who wasn’t even drinking. Drink prices were expensive and yet they still under poured ever measure! Doormen were aggressive, rude and ignorant and were disrespectful to some of the females in our party. They were particularly rude when we were queuing for our coats, for no real reason other than I guess they must have been tired by that point… Bottom line is, it’s overpriced, extremely poor service and the doorman take out a long shift on the customers. AVOID.

Leave it up to American tourist friends to drag you to a franchise pub you’ve always avoided(because life is too short for chain bars!). I’m an American expat by the way… I can say these things ;) I walked inside my first O’Neills today and was pleasantly surprised– this was a really nice and up-to-date 2-story pub. The service was nice as well. The British fare, as expected by me at least, was completely uninspiring. My friend ordered our table a round of Fish & Chips(insert any snide remark here) with mushy peas. The mushy peas: didn’t finish because it was far from tasty. The fries: they were good enough, no real complaints. The cod: I had to douse with a lemon wedge, ketchup and tartar sauce to keep it at least somewhat enjoyable. I’m reluctant to return for drinks(I don’t really do pubs anyway, honestly) and I’m sure I wouldn’t eat at another O’Neills. Nice service and interiors, though.

I’ve been here a few times for post work drinks or for pre-drinks on weekends. I’ve always found this place to be ok. I’ve never had any problems from the bouncers, I’ve always exchanged brief pleasantries with them, as I do all bouncers, and then walked straight in. It’s good for mid week drinks and the band music always gets you dancing. It’s pretty big inside too, so it’s good for large groups. It’s not the sought of place I’d want the spend an entire weekend evening at as I prefer to go to bars/clubs but it’s a great place for pre-drinks and to get you in the mood for a great night out.

Pleasant enough place just off Shaftebury Avenue at the corner of China Town. Seems a strange place to have an Irish bar in China Town but they seem to get everywhere these days. Went inside at about 6pm on a wednesday night so the place was pretty empty(although service was no quicker as a result!). The place is decorated with the usual tacky and cheesy Irish memorabilia as you would expect with any Irish chain of pubs, but all in all the place appeared reasonably pleasant. The food menu was very small although looked quite tasty,(however a trip to Mr Wu’s across the road had been planned so we didn’t try the food). The beer was £5 ½ quid for a pint and a half so not really that cheap for a chain, although cheap beer is now a thing of the past, especially in central London! Have been to far better Irish Bars with far more tasteful décor and a far better atmosphere. I suppose its ok if you fancy a Guinness when in China Town, other than that not very memorable!

Pretty much what you would expect from a standard O’Neills. Really good spot to call in to watch any matches as usually seems to be a crowd. Live music upstairs can be decent enough

Normally I detest chain pubs like O’Neills and Wetherspoons, but this place stands out for its late license and the dancing on the top floor. I’ve never failed to have a good night in here, it is usually full of unpretentious slightly boozed punters(me included) who are just up for a good time. They’ll let you get away with pretty raucous behavior(I went in once dressed as a voluptuous witch — don’t ask) but I’ve never seen or experienced any trouble. The music is pure cheese, mixed with a bit of rock, and a hint of Irish, but this is a place to relive your student days, not drink Cristal and talk about your latest purchase from Hugo Boss.

Typical chain O’Neills pub: sticky floors, questionable quality drinks, a mishmash of drunken clientele, a dodgy band upstairs. There are two things going for it. Like all O’Neills, prices are cheap. But it’s also a good late-night spot in Soho if you don’t want pretentiousness and — during the week, at least — cover charge. It was open until 3am on a Wednesday night and served cheap Jack and cokes: just what my friends and I needed on that particular night.

This pub, as any other O’Neills, is decorated in a traditional way, making it a warm place for having a few drinks. They usually have sports on TV and there’s an upstairs floor with more tables available; this is quite useful as the place can get a bit crowed due to its location so close to Leicester square. This specific pub has a very friendly staff and I strongly recommended it on St. Patrick’s day, when you can get hats and other gifts without ‘having to’ buy a minimum number of drinks.

It can mean different things to different people, but be prepared to get sweaty, a bit crowded and for the girls no open-toed shoes; plenty of glasses broken round these parts Can be good craic but I wouldn’t want to be doin it every week!

Sunday nights in Soho and Leicester Square are rubbish — unless you know the places to go. Wandering along, bars were shut — very disappointing. Then we came across ONeills. Herded upstairs, we were gutted — what a dump — two double vodkas and tonics, still a dump. The band started playing, feet started tapping, then the hips — suddenly we were the greatest dancers ever. Dance offs amongst every known Europeon National happened. It was the most real, hilarious, unpretentious night in my life. Yes the place was grubby and stunk but everyone was out for a great night. Please go if you are there for a short time and want to have fun — for real people only, not for the IT crowd :-)

I quite like this branch of O’Neills & have been here many times. I usually spend St Patricks Day here! There are 3 floors and on some nights there is live music, it’s not always great music but if you are with a good group of friends then it should be a laugh. There is a cover charge but if you get there early enough you dont have to pay. It can get quite crowded, but thats part of the atmosphere about the place

An absolute dump. Saturday night means a long queue and a regrettable £8 entry fee. Inside is a dirty overcrowded fart-ridden sweatbox, full of people who either look depressed or are trying to justify the cover charge by forcing a smile or a wiggle. Being drunk would definitely help, but 20 minutes at the bar and we were no closer to the 3 staff they had on, so we gave up. The music wasn’t even funny-cheesy, it was just terrible. Too loud to talk inside, we discovered the roof terrace was too packed to get on to. Deciding to cut our losses it took all our strength to extrude ourselves through the dance floor, while being jabbed in the back and being told to push harder. The best part of the whole experience was leaving. Then we paid £5.90 for 2 small coffees and a bottle of water at a nearby café, but that’s another story.
