When I first saw this stylish new café in Willesden Green, I had high hopes. ‘Nested’ between the two entrances to Willesden Green tube station, it is the perfect spot to have a coffee or a bite to eat. So when I finally got round to meeting a couple of girlfriends here for a chat over a cappuccino I was sorely disappointed… Hands down, the worst coffee I have ever tasted in my life. Imagine if I had gone out into the garden, dug up some soil, put it in a cup, heated it and then added water — that is what it tasted like. One of my friends also ordered a cappuccino, so the fact that both of us identified that it tasted like dirt, and that the foam was not frothy, but rather, bubbly meant that it couldn’t have just been me! So, having paid £1.90 for this cup of yuckiness, and thinking about how, for that price I could have bought a pair of earrings in Primark, I took my coffee back to the counter and told the girl that the coffee was undrinkable(well, I started by saying ‘this coffee is yucky!’) and she offered to make a new one. Now, I was looking forward to a nice cappuccino, so I thought, ok, despite the fact that I think it is the brand of coffee itself(I had never seen this coffee before) so it probably wont make much difference, let’s see if the second cup will be better. Well, although the froth was a bit better(a bit less bubbly, and didn’t collapse so quickly) the coffee was still vile. Plus they don’t put chocolate powder on the top — just sayin’… Just to clarify, I am by no means a coffee snob, I just like a tasty drink, especially when I am paying nearly £2 for it. For this reason, I would never go to this place to drink coffee again(if I had to rate them purely on coffee, they would get 0 stars), although, the food looks good, so I would probably go for lunch. Another bad point — there is one tiny bathroom, and apart from the fact that there was no toilet paper, the floor was covered in a mystery liquid — I don’t know if the problem was a leaking toilet or a leaking person, but either way, it was not pleasant. On the bright side, the staff were friendly and the cakes looked yummy! To whoever owns Nest: for the love of god, please buy a decent brand of coffee — a lot of places use illy coffee, perhaps that would be a good option?
