I can honestly say I have tried every café on Stoke Newington and Church Street. Nar stands out for individuality, from the design of its interiors, with the cute salt and peppers, the china display and intriguing photographic exhibition, to the flavour of its dishes. The menu includes traditional and new versions of British and turkish café food but the taste is really that of a home-made meal, which, believe me, when it comes to ethnic cuisine makes all the difference. I am particularly impressed with the moussaka. My favourite used to be made Z-bar’s but since the chef moved I had been on a unsatisfactory quest to find its equal(and I went as far as Istanbul!). Nar’s has all you can ask from this dish, from the right blend of herbs, to the freshness and chunkiness of the vegetable and quality of the meat. The service is outstanding, too. All waiting staff is genuinely enjoying working there and it reflects on the quality of their service. However, considering how popular this little gem of a café is turning out to be, I would advise people to go during the week as there might be some waiting at week-ends.

I have heard so much about this new place in Church Street just opposite whole food, but never had the time to actually visit!.. It was a huge mistake on my side. We had a small gathering there and we had loads of fun with good food good service and very cozy atmosphere. We ordered salads, mix platters and some starters for a group of 5 and I thought there will be leftovers as always, but everything on the table was vanished in just a couple of minutes, they were that delicious! Definitely recommend them to all good food lovers. Prices are very reasonable for the amazing food they serve. I am definitely going back there again to have the delicious smoked salmon tower salad.
