Mimos Cafe

One of the greatest joys of traveling is the opportunity to enjoy local food at local gems. And I have to thank a few of my European Unilocal buddies who convinced me that this place is indeed a local favorite, despite the fact that it’s only a short walk away from the busy and vibrant Paddington Station.
This is the kind of mom and pop gems that foodies strive to find each day. Nothing fancy. Décor and ambience are not necessary. Just down-​to-​earth good food at very reasonable prices.
And what a delightful full English breakfast!
– Perfect sunny side up eggs on fried toasts. Amazing!
– Yummy breakfast banger. Mildly spiced, slightly sweet, and with a smooth texture.
– Fresh sautéed ham. Good quality and tasty!
– Baked beans. I love the English style baked beans as they are more flavorful and not as sweet as their American counterparts.
– Pan-​fried tomato. This makes a breakfast truly English… and healthy.
– Sautéed mushrooms. The final touch of a perfect breakfast.

Had a wonderful Full English breakfast and freshly squeezed orange juice! (However, the bacon was a bit on the thick side and thus not very crispy)
The place is packed with tables so you could be sitting quite close to eachother.

Great All English Breakfast — we enjoyed every bit of it. Price was easygoing as well. Definitely recommend this little joint.

Well, well, well… who knew I could Unilocal in London? I just found out I could… so I’m happy to recommend & review this little gem I’ve frequented several times. Fresh, delicious, easy, & most importantly the staff is funny and kind… and yes the service is great. Check out this little gem. It’s become our morning meet up for our friends & family in town.

Excellent English breakfast! House made sausage, roasted tomatoes, nothing bad happening here. All for a very reasonable price.

My mother and I ate here during a recent trip to London. We more or less wandered in looking for some food near our hotel to help us recover from the long flight into the city. And I liked what I saw at Mimos Café.
Located within walking distance of Paddington Station and the hotels associated with it, I remember Mimos as being a nice, little shop that specialized in a variety of affordable meals. I did not come in for brunch, but for dinner, so my menu primarily listed pastas and sandwiches. Not only are the items affordable, but you get your money’s worth from your meals here. For example, a single £4 panini was massive — large enough to be cut into three pieces! — and came with a small side salad, too. It was a lot of food, but it was enjoyable and I found it to be quite refreshing after a night of airline snacks.
However, Mimos is admittedly a tiny place, so much so that when people began to come in to the café near the end of my meal the bathroom doors were blocked by guests, just due to the placement of the tables in the space that’s available to them. With that in mind, it’s probably not always the most comfortable of places to eat.
That said, I will definitely remember this place — if not for the lovely staff, then for the kind locals who chit-​chatted with my mother and I and welcomed us on our first day to the city with open arms. People like this make travel so much fun, and it’s wonderful to know that a little café has that kind of environment to offer to tired (and yes, sometimes silly) tourists.

It is basic food, ambiance, service, and nothing special. The price is right.

Average English breakfast, offering nothing out of the ordinary.
However, the quality is above what was being served at one of the local hotels. At about £2.50 less than the hotel for the full breakfast, Mimos Café is just fine.

I visited London for a few days. I ordered a cup of coffee and some food. I waited 45 minutes and the food never show up. Other customers were having the same problem. I paid for the coffee, which was good, and walked away feeling disappointed. The owner was apologetic, and with the cup of good coffee, they avoided a 1-​star.

Breakfast is AWESOME and not very expensive. If you stay in the Paddington area then you are lucky!

Amazing food & fantastic service. I stayed in a hotel nearby, and ended up having breakfast here three mornings in a row. The full English breakfast is great, and the omelette safe quite good as well. The waitress was very helpful and nice as well, and food was served in a short amount of time. It’s a rather small and basic restaurant but it is great food and great service at a great price, would definitely recommend!

During our recent visit to London, we often had breakfast at Mimos Café. The food was very good and the staff very nice. Highly recommended!

This place looks like the café of a suburban shopping centre was moved to central London, with all the staff and everything.
However the unpretentious setting shouldn’t fool you: this place serves decent coffee, and a cheap full English brekkie that seems to be quite popular in the area.
While you watch a morning show on tv and sip on your coffee the friendly staff will make sure you have all you need. They really seem to care about the quality of service, which is quite surprising considering most customers are not regulars.
Will come again and try to talk with strangers.

Wir waren am 24.01.2015 dort und was soll man sagen? Kurz und knapp — hat sogar meiner Maus geschmeckt… und das will was heissen!
Wir hatten ein Full English Breakfast mit allem Drum und Dran — und nicht mit billigem, fettigem Bacon sondern mit sehr leckerem Schinken, sehr mager! Die Eier waren super, der Kaffee war ein Kaffee und alles andere stimmte auch — einschliesslich Preis!
Nur zu empfehlen! :-)

Nice little spot very close to Paddington Station. Had a long night of pub crawling with a friend I was visiting down here so I naturally missed my hotels breakfast. Very happy to come across this place while taking a stroll in the rain and discover they still served breakfast (about 2pm). First time having and English breakfast but I fell in love with the beans and cooked tomatoes being served with eggs, bacon, sausage, bacon, and mushrooms. Not sure how the Brits eat it but I enjoyed it all mixed together. Place was small but welcoming and the food and coffee were top notch. Would recommend this spot to anyone in the area needing to take a small break and refuel.

Buzzing with customers and not very spacious inside.
The staff was quite stressed out and the seating was not optimal, but nevertheless less very friendly host and good quality food.

Cheap, straight up quality served quickly with no nonsense. Lovely and unlikely right near the station with outside seating. Would definitely go back.

Nice people, very good food at a good price compare the neighbor restaurants in the same area! yeah… small, tight and cozy restaurant, so be prepare to split table if you are coming with more than group of 4.

Waren eigentlich schon vor einem Jahr hier, muss aber unbedingt noch eine Bewertung schreiben, da so gut. Haben das Mimos damals dank Qype entdeckt und es war einfach super. Ein super Preis-​Leistungsverhältnis, freundliches Service und leckeres Frühstück. Sitzt man im Café, glaubt man eigentlich eher in einem italienischen Café in New York zu sitzen, wie man es aus Filmen kennt, aber nein man ist in London. Bei einem London-​Besuch unbedingt einmal ausprobieren ;-)

Hier waren wir jeden Tag zum Frühstück zu finden.
Der Kaffee ist herrvoragend genau wie der Service.
Das Café springt einem nicht sofort ins Auge.
Die Einrichtung ist einbisschen altmodisch. braun…aber gemütlich.
Egal wie lange wir gesessen haben wir hatten nie das Gefühl wir müßten schnell weg. In den Morgenstunden war es manchmal sehr voll.
Das Essen war echt gut. Gute Portionen und Superpreise !
Für/​Ab ca. 4 Pfund ein gutes Frühstück.
Die Bedienung waren meistens 2 – 3 junge Frauen (jeden Tag eine andere) (osteuropäisch ?!) die ab und zu uns nicht gut verstanden aber immer höflich, schnell und freundlich waren.
Absolut nichts zu meckern !
Ich würde es unbedingt weiterempfehlen :-)
