They have consistent problems with service. Confusion and pandemonium predominate. The short time I was there today three separate parties had complaints, I don’t know why. We tried to order at the counter but were told to be seated. After waiting ten minutes with little hope of getting attention we went back to the counter and ordered our cupcakes. They were cute but kind of gross.

On a New Year’s Day, hunting around Muswell high street for somewhere open for a spot of lunch in steps Maison Blanc with some delicious treats! I’ve been meaning to visit here for years, but you know, no longer living in England anymore doesn’t help ;) I had a delicious soup of the day(pumpkin) with nice crunchy bread, yuuum! Followed with an ok latte and chocolate brownie which was extremely rich! They also sell some of their own jams and sugars, would make good prezzies or people!

cute little café in Muswell Hill! Perfect place to chill on a wet sunday afternoon! My friend and I shared two cakes… a chocolate brownie which was very rich(but good) and a strawberry cupcake that was pretty good too! The coffee was also good! And the waiter was so cute… kept coming and checking if we were ok! Two blondes!!!

Maison Blanc is just like the name-French! They have a take-away section with lovely pastries under glass to choose from in the front and a large seating area in the back for relaxing with a coffee and paper or nibbling on quiche. It is really easy to let an afternoon sweep away while chatting with friends over brunch here. They have a good breakfast brunch menu and a very relaxed atmosphere! I nomally don’t like a chain but this is a great exception in my book!

For an extra special French treat, this Boulangerie, Pâtisserie and Chocolaterie rolled into one is the place to indulge. Their food is very fine and free of GM ingredients so everything, as you can imagine from such a high end delicatessen, is delectable. Anything pastry based is especially delicious, it’s desserts like theirs that make you realise that the french really do deserve their title for incredible pastry. The lemon, chocolate and pear and almond tarts are all to die for. For anyone with a sweet tooth, the cakes are bound to please and they taste just as fabulous as the works of art that they look like. I only really come here for sweet things as I think that’s what they are best at and since as I could never possible recreate any at home they seem more worthy of the hefty price tag. My friends Dad is a die hard fan of their baguettes, but to be honest I’ve always found them verging on the stale side from this branch, unless you plan on going at 8am and eating it during the morning. Their super freshness does seem to decline rapidly and I prefer the M & S ones over the road, which are much cheaper too. Recently I bought a whole Tentation cake for a special occasion after trying the single slices that are available to buy. Literally translating as ‘Temptation’ it looked too beautiful to eat(well almost) and the layers of light chocolate sponge, doused in raspberry juice, thick chocolate ganache, fresh raspberries and pistachio chips sprinkled on top(even writing about this is making my mouth water!) made this little beauty worth it’s ridiculously high price tag.
