I had wanted to go here for ages, so when I found myself with three friends looking for somewhere to have supper near London Bridge, I seized the opportunity. We walked in on a warm Wednesday night at about 8.30pm, and every table outside was taken, so we had to sit inside. It didn’t bother me, as they allow smoking outside and I’d rather be as far from those noxious fumes as possible! We had a very nice table inside, which was a booth type affair with sofa cushions either side. It was extremely comfortable. Perhaps it’s my prejudice, but I never expect warm service in French restaurants. However, the waiter was extremely accommodating and quite charming. He warned us that they were rather busy, and we may have to wait, but actually there was nothing wrong with the amount of time we had to wait for anything. I do like it when people under-promise and over-deliver! The wine was very good, a great selection and not just from France. I had a tomato side salad to start with that promised«three different types of tomato». I expected three varieties, but what actually arrived were: cherry, normal and sun-dried. It actually worked and as a starter was fresh and lovely. I had the steak and chips for mains, the steak was very good and the chips were chunky and a good sized portion. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend it.

Great place for a nice lunch, inside our outside. Courtyard is below the street and protected from the hustle and bustle. Inside, cozy seating. No parking, on the south bank at London Bridge.

. I recently walked past during lunchtime and decided to give La Cave a try I’ve been planning to try this place for ages as it seemed to be a charming little restaurant. The interior did not really work for me although the front bar area is nice enough to visit for after work drinks the dining area was not quite what I had expected part brick walls and part dark brown painted walls. It was supposed to give a cosy cave feeling but it did not really work for me. My starter was a chicken liver salad and, well, perhaps the chef was running out of chicken livers there were two pieces of liver on some salad leaves and lots of bacon, perhaps to compensate for the lack of liver. The main of sea bream was slightly overcooked and on a bed of unimpressive paprika, onion and string beans. The waiting staff were French and friendly enough but to be honest, I was underwhelmed and could have just as well had my lunch anywhere else. A rather disappointing experience, I was expecting much better food.

Read the four reviews that existed as of June 23rd and decided to try it. Met Melissa who is one the waitresses. My husband and I had a great experience. The veal w very good but the mushroom risotto is what we fought over. The risotto was so good, we went back the following night!

I had lunch here yesterday. The had a set menu of two courses for £20 which we went for as the normal menu was a bit too gourmet for Wednesday lunch time. We both had smoked salmon with a dill sauce to start and rib eye steak with chips for main. The smoked salmon was fine, but the steak was really chewy. Nice, but really chewy. The waitress also seemed to have no idea what ketchup was(we wanted this for the chips — the steak came with bernaise sauce). I would have given this 2 stars but actually the place and the waiters had a funny sort of French charm about them and the set menu was pretty cheap for what we had.

I am very surprised there are no reviews here, this did appeare to be a very busy french restaurant. The welcome was good and we were found a table without booking(07:00 on a Friday), but I would think this awas down to the weather.(Boris suggested people left for home by 19:30 due to the weather cnditions) but I think that advice was ignored. Food was excellent, superb selection of wines. Downside — the waitress did not understand the menu, causing confusion when ordering the side dishes, these ended up the same as presented with the meal, very disapointing. My rating is based on the lack of knowledge shown by the waiting staff and not on the quality of the food. Price £130 for 3 — 2 course meals and one bottle of wine.

we stumbled upon la cave after the three previous restaurants we visited had ridiculously long waits(and we were hungry!) we passed up the chance to sit outside on that rainy evening, passed the charming wine bar and seating area, and took a table in the cozy old stone wine cellar. everything about our experience was stellar. we picked the cheapest wine and it was delightful. the pistachio bread was still warm and perfectly baked. our appetizers, entrees, and desserts were all delicious. in fact, my dining partners were freaking out at how great the food was, and everyone agreed it was one of the best meals they’d had in a very long time. the service was friendly and outstanding, though dining did take awhile(as is typical in french restaurants). there were even great vegetarian options for yours truly. :) i’ve been looking for a great french restaurant since my favorite spot in sf closed years ago. la cave is magnifique! next time i’m in london, i’ll definitely make a point to return.

Oh my word… La Cave is an absolutely superb French restaurant. This is also a wine bar too, although I mainly come here for the food. I mentioned in a previous review of an oyster bar that I was not a big fan but here they do their oysters in a gorgeous buttery, garlic sauce, which is utterly superb. I can’t rave enough about this place. Their desserts are also bloody amazing. The prices are not the cheapest but it’s well worth spending the money here for the food, the ambience, the great service and the whole experience. It’s just a really awesome place to come for dinner for two. Seemingly they’ll be doing cooking courses here soon as well — just another perfect reason to keep coming back and if I can try and cook meals that taste half as good as this place, I’m onto a winner…
