La Brasserie Mayfair

I echo everything that the other reviewer said, particularly about them not having the décor to go with what they are trying to portray. The prices on the menu really don’t match the surroundings.
The food is slightly better than average, but nothing too exciting probably best avoided.

This place is right next to Green Park tube station, below Fahkreldine. It has a small outside sitting space, but it only has shade on half of it so you can roast if you sit on the other half!
Its inside space is dark and stuffy, it does not make you welcome at all. There are tables inside on the window, which is the best seating space, although it usually is taken.
The place aspires to be a smart eating place, but it does not really have the food to go with it, as its options and quality in general are all quite average.
Admittedly, its centre cut fillet of beef, pan fried foie gras, Madeira truffle sauce and spinach is quite yummy. However, at £27.50 it may as well be.
I wasn’t that lucky with other options, like their salmon salad, absolutely tasteless. I ordered it for lunch, but I had previously asked if its size would be ok for a lunch main course. I had been assured that it was. Now, I don’t know what others have for lunch, I must be a big eater because that wouldn’t even have been a good size for a starter for me! So I left hungry that day, and of course, I have not been back since that last visit.
However, I saw a paella being served that time, which looked quite appetizing, plus it was a big size! ;) I had seen it on the menu the times that I had been there but I always feel suspicious about ordering paella anywhere in London, as it always is a disappointment. If I decide to go back it will only be to try that paella. I will flip if it ends up being another flop like it is everywhere else!
Alert! Beware of ordering soft drinks in this place, as they are £4 for a small bottle. Yeah, you heard right!!!
So yeah, it has the location, it certainly has the big prices, it does not have the food, menu and deco to go with what they want to portray.
