I signed up to Unilocal just to write a review of how lovely this place is. It seemed incredible to me the dishwater that the cafes in this area pass off as coffee, and then I discovered this place. The coffee is heavenly. The café is small but I found it perfect, a nice quiet atmosphere to read or put on your headphones.

If you’re a fan of Monocle magazine, this is the place to go. This café has good coffee but the lure to the café is the style and books they have — they have all of the Monocle magazines, books and publications! They also have a Print-on-Demand newspaper service for 170 countries in 60 languages! Meaning if I wanted to read a daily newspaper printed from another country I can just print it right then and there. Those who know Monocle know it’s all about the print so this is quite a unique experience. Note– in the Monocle café in Marylebone, if you buy a Monocle magazine you get a free coffee. Unfortunately these guys aren’t affiliated with them so they don’t give you a free coffee with a Monocle magazine purchase which is kind of lame. The café is also smaller than the Monocle Café so not a good place for groups– great for catching up on some good reads though!

So good I came here twice on the same day! So what can I say about this place? I didn’t go searching for it. I wasn’t looking for a coffee at the time. Well, I was, but only because I was meeting friends and planning to go elsewhere for lunch. But my friends were late, and it’s a good thing they were. While waiting, I popped in here for a coffee as I had parked my car across the street. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, because it looked more like a book shop than a coffee shop. In fact most of the space is dedicated to books and magazines for sale, and they have a pretty interesting selection from around the world. Anyway, on to the coffee. It was really good. Stronger than I was expecting for a caffe latte but smooth and tasty. They also had cinnamon buns for sale. I couldn’t resist the temptation and bought one of those too, and I’m glad I did because it was delicious! :) The combo was so good that after brunch with my friends I brought everyone back here so they could try it! It’s a refreshing place in an area that’s pretty much full of tourist traps. If you’ve just arrived in Paddington on the Heathrow Express and you’re looking for a coffee, walk past all of them and head here :)
