The place is usually empty and you can see why when you are met by rude service and an overpriced menu.

I’ve lived in London for years and years, and can’t remember such a brazen rip-off place. I paid £3.10 for a soya latte, literally barely bigger than an espresso. Part of that was a surcharge for soya milk, which wasn’t advertised(it really irritates me that I get penalised for soya milk); still outrageous though. I asked for it to be extra hot — it wasn’t. There was also a giant queue and only a couple of staff serving coffees. Unfortunately I couldn’t leave, so then had a rip-off lunch. I ordered a main course salad, which was just shy of £10. I asked for one of the ingredients to be subbed, but this was too much trouble(the excuse was the salads are already pre-made(hilarious), but magically it was possible just to leave the offending ingredient off(without it being subbed) because now it was sprinkled on afterwards) — so the most expensive ingredient was left off without any replacement or reduction in price. What arrived was the size of a side salad, absolutely swimming in oil — it was rank. Then there’s the teas — these are grandly advertised on the menu as being served in a teapot; not sure why, since there is only a single cup’s worth in the teapot. Even the coke — sorry Pepsi(they don’t sell Coke; who doesn’t sell Coke?) — was a rip-off, sold in tiny glasses filled mainly with ice. There are also hardly any choices for sweet. As for the service, we had to call someone over for everything — it was really tedious. There was one lovely, smiley chap; otherwise — some pretty stony-faced staff. The space(ie the restaurant itself) and location are pleasant. Oh and there are a lot of people hanging around in there, using it as office space.

Bottom line: cool space with a unique scan advise feel and taste. Very spacious modern restaurant with a cool and trendy design and feel. Nice seating outside along the canal. We enjoyed an excellent Scandinavian style breakfast. We ordered the poached eggs with danish bacon which had an excellent jam inside of it. Also ordered the breakfast board which had a selection of tasty delights. Excellent waitress named Pilar who was very sweet. Definitely will come back.

The chicken open sandwich I had was horrible. Tasted bad. Upgraded to fries for a pound and wasn’t worth it. Only good thing is being able to sit outside on a nice day. Service was good and helps with the review but the food really wasn’t good. Ok ok… Later in the day I came for drinks and the inside of the place is amazing. Very well decorated and very roomy. There was only one bartender though, so drinks were slow. Upgraded to three stars because of how nice it is inside. ;)

Kupp combines bar, café, and restaurant really well, with the bar /café having their own area so you can enjoy your lunch without shouting over bar noise. The setting beside the canal in the newly redeveloped merchant square complements the modern and trendy interior décor. This is a superb and really good value spot to stop for lunch, coffee, or an after work drink.

Excellent facilities and fantastic to see the kitchen on show. Food wise it’s a Scandinavian vibe with lots of open sandwiches. There is a large bar area away from the restaurant so if you fancy just drinks or cocktails you have space. The food was delicious and served on boards. Sandwiches came with an amazing potato salad with dill and hot courses included skinny fries. I would recommend especially on a summers day say by the canal.
