Excellent Phall dish. I wanted to get a mix of 2 vegetables, a main dish, and rice. Do they offer a «combination» plate that is cheaper/smaller? No. You must order each dish completely separately, and as such, my meal was $ 100. This makes people NOT encouraged to eat here, unless they are only getting ONE thing.

Average Indian… I continue on my underwhelming culinary journey of London.

While walking around the area after watching a musical, we stopped to look at the menu in the window. A young, eager waiter(who reminded me of the store cashier from My Name is Earl) came out and told us it was the oldest Indian restaurant in London(since 1965) and then asked us if we had had Indian food before. When we said yes, he should have turned us away. Indian is one of my favorite foods, and this place was very bad. First of all, the layout is very cramped and some of the waiters, though attentive, are a bit rude. All of them had uniforms except for the man I like to refer to as the«pit boss» as he was clearly either the owner or manager and stood at the end of the restaurant which was higher than the rest of the place allowing him to look down on everyone. He would bark orders at the waiters and come down if there was a problem. It’s the kind of place that they try to slip in an extra order or two of something to make more money. Extremely annoying. The table next to me asked for water, and the waiter came with a bottle of water that he cracked open before arriving at the table. When the couple said they just wanted tap water, they were not met with«I’m sorry, sir, but I thought you wanted a bottle» or «Sorry, but I already opened it.» Rather, they waiter bluntly said«I already opened it» and then just stared at the man. Huge«no no.» Now the food: The food was not very good. The tikka chicken masala tasted as if someone had spilled a bag of sugar in it, and the curry was just not that great. The basmati rice and naan were good, but that’s pretty hard to mess up. With so many Indian restaurants in London, the only thing going for this place is their supposed history. Verdict: avoid.

This was my first Indian experience! I had spent all day walking around and ended up in crazy Piccadilly Circus with blistered feet and a starving tummy… we walked around looking for something quiet and welcoming and oooooooooh we found it. I fell in love with Indian food, mostly due to their amazing Butter Chicken. It was sooo delicious, and unforgettable. I have not been able to find anything comparable in the states! the 5 stars is for this dish alone, as my friends were not very happy with their choices and were very jealous of mine! Also, they are a bit over priced, but hey, its London!
