Prior to visiting Headmasters in Shepherds Bush I went online and was able to find a PDF list with their current prices for cuts, blows, and colour. So before I walked into the salon I already had an idea of what to expect and what was in my budget, therefore, no embarrassing situations.
On entering the salon I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who was most helpful, she called a team member of staff to give me a free consultation to discuss my hair colour requirements. I needed my hair highlighted and explained that I wanted a few colours, and most importantly my hair had to look natural, similar to bronde. Sarb coloured my hair, she was professional, polite, and friendly, but not to the point of annoyance, where ‘SOME’ hairdressers want to question you about your whole life history. I was allowed to ‘RELAX and ENJOY’ the experience. I was offered tea given magazines, and made to feel comfortable.
After colouring my hair I was offered a hair treatment that would cost an additional £15.00. What a lovely treat! I walked into Headmasters feeling like a blonde that had been dipped into a bottle of bleach, and walked out looking and feeling absolutely fabulous.
Sarb is well trained, she totally listened to what the client wanted and carried it out.

A hairdressers is a place which dresses your hair. Do they dress it in trousers? I don’t know. They cut it sometimes. I didn’t have that though when I came here. I didn’t have my hair put in trousers either. Did I really visit a hairdressers?

Headmasters has become the local emergency and last resort hairdresser for my girlfriend and I. Emergency hairdresser because it’s only five minutes away, it opens early on weekends and usually has short-​notice availability. Last resort because it’s not either of our preferred hairdressers.
It’s all very swish inside. You’re whisked to your chair, men’s or women’s magazines are placed in front of you and you’re asked whether you want tea or coffee. The stylists are friendly and seem to know what they’re doing. An added bonus is that there seems to be some room for negotiation around the price for last-​minute appointments: quoted £35 for a simple cut, when I told them how much I usually pay — £20 — they said they’d do it for that instead.
But what about the haircut? Technically okay and certainly not a disaster, but I wasn’t happy with it the way I am at one of my preferred hairdressers (e.g. the humble City Cuts in Victoria). Likewise with my girlfriend: the style provided to her was technically the style requested, but she didn’t like it.
Hence rating this Headmasters branch is somewhat difficult. I can’t truthfully say that I was fully satisfied with the end result, but I can’t ignore all its other virtues. So A-​OK seems just about fair for now.
