Don’t judge a restaurant by its Unilocal review… too much. We had four different dishes from here ranging from udon to katsu and enjoyed the all. So we were very pleasantly surprised despite the negative reviews. You get a large portion for the price. Service was friendly and quick. Give it a try.

I feel as if I am kicking a dog when it’s down, but, this place was bad. We walked in and they seated us upstairs, where about 3 other tables were filled with people. After about 10 – 15 minutes they took our order. After about 20 minutes, another table got their food, and it did not look appealing. We got one of our order items, some chicken, and it did not look fresh or smell good. After another 10 minutes we decided to cut our losses and leave(i left some money for the chicken and our beverages). They shouidn’t have an upstairs eating area if they can’t provide decent service to the customers(although the bottom section appeared empty, and it is possible some tables were out of my view). She warned us that the sushi would take at least 20 minutes(for cucumber rolls?) yet after over 30 we still didn’t get anything. I couldn’t handle it. I was starving and I couldn’t take the slow service. I overheard the other tables complaining about the service, and decided to Unilocal the place. We found several other restaurants close by and realized we should have Unilocaled this one before we went in, as most of the reviews reflected our experience fairly accurately. NOTE: I did not taste the food. This review was really only about the service.

Hazuki was my favourite sushi place about two years ago. I won’t go there anymore. The last time I went, I had to send part of my order back to the kitchen as they had served me very very old sashimi. The service is still clueless and now has a bit of attitude. Yuck. Shame on you, Hazuki! Shame!

Good food, average service, average prices. Would come again though! Quiet and tucked away with a good range on the menu and everything I had was pretty tasty! 3 – 4 stars(but nearer three)

Came here with a friend who comes here fairly regularly. She mentioned an aubergine dished that was to die for so I was in! The grilled aubergine with miso was not a disappointment! We also had tempura veg, deep fried prawn balls, sushi and a pork dish. The dishes came when they were ready. Sushi was delicious and not mega expensive. Prawn balls are fantastic but messy so be warned. The restaurant is very chilled out but the service is tentative. I had such a good meal I went again with my boyfriend and pretty much ordered the same. YUM! Really want some prawn balls and grilled aubergine now!

Not sure when the other reviewers dined at this restaurant but it’s a local lunch place for me. The service is actually really quick and one of the few places where you can get a sit down lunch in and out within an hour. The service has almost always been attentive but maybe it’s because they’re aware of people wanting speedy service during lunch. There is a lunch special menu that used to be really good value… but surprised they nearly increased it up 2 pounds for each dish! I usually went with the grilled mackerel with salt or katsu don which was 6 pounds but now it has increased to 8! I think the tonkatsu is quite good most of the time. They’re usually really good about topping up your green tea as well.

Possibly one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long time. The food itself was adequate although some of the fish was tasteless(not a good thing when the dish is sashimi…). The katsu doesn’t come with curry(and I didn’t see an option that did) so it’s fairly dry when eaten with rice. The black cod with miso was the best dish we had. Not the best black cod ever, but a fairly decent try. Service was horrendously slow with it taking approximately 15 minutes of us waving to get the waitress’s attention and almost an hour before they refilled our tea. The dishes also arrived piecemeal which meant given our intense hunger after the long wait we demolished them in no time just trying to survive. Overall, take the extra 10 minutes and walk over to Japantown at Piccadilly. Both your stomach and your wallet will thank you for going for the cheaper but vastly tastier fare.

Centrally located Japanese restaurant, but as it is on a side road off Leicester Square, is usually not packed with tourists. The food here is quite good — we had salmon belly marinated in miso(£5+) to start, which was delicious… absolutely juicy and sweet. Just wished the portions were bigger! For mains, we ordered a black cod hotpot. While the cod itself was very fresh and some of the tastiest cod we’ve had in London, the hotpot soup lacked any flavour at all. It just tasted like boiled water. Our other mains, stir fried pork belly, was well prepared and was a sizeable portion too. We had calpicos to accompany our meals, which at £2.80, were rather a rip-off! Service in this restaurant was OK but not very good; we witnessed another woman who had ordered sushi and asked for some ginger to go with it; she, and us, were shocked that the restaurant charged for that! Who serves sushi without the holy trio of soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger? The more galling part was the reaction from the waiting staff, who just shrugged their shoulders, not even bothering to call the manager over. So in all… decent food, but service and hospitality not up to par, and pricewise some of the dishes looked a bit expensive for the portions. Plus they had the gall to add 10% service charge for not really much! Reviewed by The London Insider

Terrible. Don’t go. I was caught short, underestimating the queue at Wahaka after a few beers. Gave this place a shot because my journey home to trusted places seemed a bit long. Service was slow. Starters and mains were delivered at the wrong times. Everything tasted deep fried. Japanese food isn’t supposed to be like this. It’s hard to get decent, cheap food in this area…

Well this place actually deserves 0 stars as we have never experienced such terrible service. Despite being the only table booked(they had stuck the booking to the wall), the girls apparently seemed clueless and pointed us to go upstairs and left us there. 5 minutes later, someone finally came upstairs to seat us, next to the service station– and refused to let us change tables initially(there was only 1 other table sat in the restaurant, and no other bookings!) WORSE, in the middle of our meal, one of the ladies was serving a couple opposite us and started having a SHOUTINGCONVERSATION in mandarin with another member of staff downstairs. At this point we gobbled our food and left with haste. The food was barely edible, our spinach go– mae came with rotten bits; and our sushi was incredibly overpriced considering that it didn’t taste most fresh. The spider roll and nasu dengaku was edible; could have been considered good if the notion of service actually existed in this establishment. last words– only go as a last last LAST resort, these people don’t deserve to run a business.

Pleasant ambience, very good sushi. Had dinner by taking Sushi/Sashimi plate for £18. A little overpriced for the size of the plate, but very good. Unfortunately at around 10pm somebody took out the garbage, which resulted to a horrible smell. We left 10min later. But all in all I can recommend it!

Hazuki is a Japanese restaurant outside of China Town in central London. It is close to Charing Cross Tube/Mainline and also Leicester Square. Hazuki’s is a small restaurant with a intimate downstairs(some might say a bit too close!), an upstairs and if you really press them for it a small private room downstairs. I have been to Hazuki on many times, for business and pleasure and I’ve found their lunch menu is very good value, quick and tasty. For example as at last month Chicken Katsu, Miso Soup, Pickles and Rice was £7.50 and was plentiful. Top that off with a Crab King Roll(£5) and that’s a great, large meal! For dinner, there are set menus ranging from £16 to £45 and also a-la-carte. The a-la-carte is a bit over-priced, but I can recommend the £25 and £5 set menu. Sometimes the serving staff can disappear for a little while, but they are very polite and happy to help. Sadly not all are Japanese and they’re not always able to explain each dish on the menu. Overall, Hazuki is probably best for a business lunch. Dinner is okay, but can’t compare to for example Donzoko in Soho. I enjoy coming here and there’s a Korean waitress who knows loads about films and so on Always nice to chat :)
