Great spot to take a break when you’re tired of shopping. They have incredibly tasty sandwiches that they serve with some rocket leaves on the side, cakes are delicious too and tea is one of the best I’ve had in a café. On top of this service is always friendly, you can help yourself to tap water and there’s sockets for you to charge your phone! The only downside is that it’s inside Westfield so it gets a little noisy. They play nice relaxed music that sort of covers the buzzing though.

Considering the fact that we found it actually not easy to find a coffee bar in London, this is quite a nice place.

Nice little place in westfield. I stopped here for a quick coffee because I was waiting for a friend. I ordered a latte and it did take a little while to come and I was asked if two different drinks were mine before I was actually given what I ordered. They have a selection of cakes and you can have breakfast or lunch. Wouldn’t mind visiting again.

If you were expecting the same standard of coffee as their shop in Putney, you will be very disappointing. Grind offers the best coffee in Westfield Stratford. But that’s really not saying much as it’s the best of a bad bunch… This place started out promising but over a few months the quality dropped vastly(that’s why there are so many positive reviews.). One of my main concerns after my last visit(2 weeks ago) is that their hygiene standards seemed to have dropped, i had the unpleasant experience sitting in the counter for about 30 minutes i saw a lot of things that are not complying with hygiene standards, like using the same towel to clean stains, the coffee & milk frother or reheating milk that has been sitting on a jug for 10 minutes, not washing the milk jugs and much more. I wouldn’t recommend this place until they reevaluate their standards as at the moment it is a time bomb for food poisoning.

Besides all of the chain coffee placed in Westfield, grind looked like one of the more authentic ones. However, you do realise that it’s just a coffee place like Starbucks or Costa. Without the standards of a chain. The music is loud and annoying and is trying to be even louder than all the people walking past in this open area coffee shop. One of the things I really hate in food places: the food sits on the counter top, mostly uncovered. I really don’t want to have a piece of cake that dried out during the day and that many other visitors have walked past, pointed at and spit on. The coffee is a good average, nothing more.

It is a surprisingly cosy space given the vastness of Westfield. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the selection of cakes are so tempting, especially the chocolate biscotti. There is a tidy selection of hot drinks, including most of the essential varieties of loose tea. Just make sure you let it brew long enough and stir it up before pouring.

Great coffee and great food inside Westfield Stratford city. No Costa or Nero or even Starbucks coffee will have better coffee than them. You should definitely give it a try :)

An oasis in the midst of chain stores in a shopping centre. Located as far as possible from the train station end of Westfield Shopping Centre(where Starbucks seem to have pride of place) hasn’t diminished the quality and custom of this place. Yummy Mummy heaven during the week; shoppers haven at the weekend. Fantastic coffee from their own blend and great Kiwi inspired brunch and cakes. My only criticism; too many people who don’t realise that good coffee takes time to be created. And no more French toast.

Grind offers the best coffee in Westfield Stratford. But that’s really not saying much as it’s the best of a bad bunch. I’ve visited Grind a number of times(four times in two years) and while it started out promising, I would say both service and quality have gone done remarkably. The coffee isn’t good — over-extracted, resulting in a very bitter taste — and the hot chocolate wasn’t much better. The worst part was having to wait about twenty minutes for our order even though the place wasn’t that busy. I patronise many independent coffee shops, and appreciate that things take time, but twenty minutes for two hot beverages is really taking the mick.

While this is definitely the best coffee you’ll find in the area, the service is woefully slow and standoffish, and the hipster atmosphere is laughingly disparate to the high-street consumer mecca that is Westfield Stratford City. Still, I will almost assuredly return whenever I’m undercaffeinated and at Westfield, which is pretty much always.

Love a good café. Love it even more when it is a much needed oasis in a maddening, crowded area like Westfield Stratford is… granted that this café always seems to be packed and that getting a much-coveted sofa requires advanced skills in elbow-nics…but everything is made up for by the sweet aroma and rich taste of the darned good(albeit pricey) coffee this place serves. Why now, talking about this makes me want to go there this evening and have a go at some of the delectable afghan cookies or cakes too… they’ve always looked tempting and I think I’m feeling a tad self-indulgent today!

Helloooo to my latest ‘Most Unexpectedly Awesome Brunch’ discovery! So I confess, I’m the kind of girl that smiled at the sign that said ‘All you need is love… and more coffee’, and at the heart-shaped pattern they made in the froth on my latte :-$ Still, even I realise that five stars for any food outlet inside a shopping mall just feels a bit wrong — but hear me out. If you’ve ever made it along the entire lower level of Westfield Stratford, you’ll have been rewarded with an eclectic bunch of places that make up the Great Eastern Market(note to self: remember to go back to try the Russian/Lithuanian bakery and the macaron café!). Despite the name, whilst Grind works nicely as a coffee place(I’d defo hit this place up over the chains), coffee devotees prob won’t find anything too special and it was actually the brunch that impressed me. It’s not even immediately obvious that they do food beyond the scrummy cakes and scones on display, but grab a baby clipboard from one of the wooden farmhouse-style tables to have a look at the menu. Then put it down and go order the Scrambled Eggs with Chorizo and Spinach on Wholemeal Toast, followed by the French Toast. Kudos if you can finish these yourself(good luck), but I split both with my sis which worked out perfectly as either dish alone would’ve got too samey and made us jealous of the other. Eggs had the perfect amount of squishiness without being runny plus chorizo and spinach are two of my fave ingredients. French toast was EPIC — at least 3 cm thick with a good amount of syrup, sliced strawberries and a generous dollop of mascarpone. In fact, it probably gets one star all on its own. Yes it’s pricey, but hey it’s a shopping centre, and it smashed my pretty low expectations. Hmm think I better go back soon to check it wasn’t a one-off! Try it as an alternative to the main food courts if you’re in the centre — plus you get to browse/giggle through some cool shops(Foyles, David & Goliath and the Lego shop anyone?!) also on the lower level to round off your morning nicely ;)

I come here whenever I’m in Westfield and use it as my meeting point when I’m arranging to meet anyone. It a calm corner of an otherwise hectic, chaotic part if London. The coffee is very good, better than anything you would find in any of the big chains. The Kiwi décor gives it some character and they have a nice breakfast menu. The staff are always helpful too. When catching up with family one afternoon we ended up sat here for sometime and we were looked after with regular top ups and some freebies as well. Definitely worth a stop.

The best non-chain option for a coffee in Westfield Stratford. Super friendly staff, the flat whites are *real* flat whites made by mostly Antipodean staff. Excellent home made goodies, especially the bacon pie and pear/vanilla scones.

I was hankering for a coffee whilst in Stratford, and decided that Grind seemed most promising compared to the fairly lacklustre chains otherwise available. In the otherwise soul-destroying monument to big chain capitalist consumerism that is Westfield, Grind at least SEEMS independent(though knowing my luck it’s secretly owned by some vast Private Equity group). I ordered the Flat White which was excellent — good quality coffee, well-made, well-presented in sweet little coffee cups. Staff were friendly and quick, ambience was as much as you could ask for in a shopping mall coffee joint. Worthy of a 3.5 rather than a 4, but willing to mark it up given the context(expectations for mall coffee are low), and the only other review seems a little niggardly in its score. Not worth a trip, but certainly worth stopping in if you’re in Westfield and need caffeine.

Probably the best coffer place in Westfield mall and thry can of course produce a drinkable milkbased espresso beverage but for a place that attempts to market itself as a coffee specialist it is still poor. That said for a mall coffee it is still acceptable and that may mean a few more cups here if I am in the area but it is not worth a trip to go there. If it is slow they also said they do filters brewed on order so will try that and see if it convinces more. Do in a sense doubt it since the roast appears way too dark to get any good flavors from it.

This is a café oasis at the Waitrose end of the ground floor at Westfield Stratford. We came here for a look around the shops on the day after Boxing Day. The shopping centre was packed, but as we reached the café, the crowd thankfully thinned out and we had found a place to relax. Relax, to an extent, that is. A lot of families with young children also had the same idea, so it was a bit frantic. But I think the café catered to everyone well. I like how the have two long communal tables in the middle which can fit larger groups. There are a variety of coffee tables matched with big comfy armchairs on the periphery. You place your order at the counter, say where you are seated and they bring it out to you. The system breaks down if you can’t find a seat, or the one you spotted is snatched up before you get to it. I felt sorry for the guy having to find everyone and deliver the drinks. It sounded like there may have been some orphan flat whites. I got a small flat white for £2.30. It was better than the average and a typical price for London. They do a large for £2.70. They have a range of traditional NZ café snacks like Anzac biscuits and Afghans(for the newbies, this is a thick chocolate biscuit with chocolate icing on top and a walnut placed in the middle). At over £2 each, they are expensive, but then again they are a novelty for London cafés.
