Came here with some friends for dinner, it was incredible(admittedly we were dining with the head chef) the food was excellent, we tried pretty much one of everything — well my companions did, I am veggie — it was really nice to go to a steak house(or any restaurant) where the veggie main wasn’t mushroom risotto. To start I had Burrata with Sorrel Salsa Verde, it was light and a really good start to the meal for the main I had Ricotta Dumplings, Chanterelles & Butternut Squash, it was delicious, I am not normally a fan of ricotta but with the butternut squash it was amazing(definitely a step up from usual boring pairing of spinach). The real crowning moment for me was the sticky toffee pudding, it was so good, this is my all time favourite pudding, simple, comforting and done really well. The sides of macaroni and cheese and sweet potato were delicious I just wish I hadn’t eaten so much of everything else so I could have enjoyed them more. For drinks we mostly had wine but I did get to try Shakey Petes Ginger brew, never would I have imagined drinking a cocktail with ale in it, but it is a must try if you go. The staff were incredible, it was really enjoyable experience, I am looking forward to returning.

Foxlow came here not so long ago and has been running pretty well since. They serve decent food, a range of cocktails at reasonable prices and a good atmosphere. Nothing to special bur worth a try when in the neighbourhood

Staff were nice, friendly and welcoming. Ambience is also nice. Food was OK, but would have expected better steaks from a restaurant in the Hawksmoor group. Side choices are quite bland.

5 pepper squid Fried chicken Short rib and kimchi Carrot and avocado and goddess dressin salad Baked sweet potato Coconut water Shakey Petes ginger brew x2 The people that bring you the Hawsmoor have brought fine dining to Balham. Thank god! The starter of squid was incredible and well done. The squid tasted fresh and it was cooked to perfection, the batter was seasoned well and the accompanying red peppers and cilantro with lime was excellent. I could have had a whole plate of it. The short rib was a larger piece of meat than I was accustomed to. Smoked for 10 hours and then sous-vide for another 3 to get a very delicious smokey flavour on the bone. The accompanying kimchi was very fresh and tasty with a touch of spice. I found the taste combo of the meat, kimchi, sweetness of the carrot and goddess dressing with a bit of sweet potato and I just made a symphony in my pie hole. Super delicious. My husbands birthday dinner started off on a good start when he began knocking back the Petey ginger brews. He. Loved. Them. Seriously, wouldn’t get off his phone trying to get the recipe to make at home. Love. His fried chicken was super good. I didn’t try it with the habanero vinegar and it was still delicious and he spoke highly of the vinegar. The chicken batter was soooooo crispy and seasoned well. The staff were beyond amazing and took the time to listen to our feedback about the meal and really hone in any weak spots they might have. Being open only 1 day, I think they have it handled.
