A very underrated bar and Thai restaurant that I’m a big fan of. It’s hindered slightly by its location on the other side of the railway bridge which separates it from the lively hub of Balham high street. It’s great for a catch up after work, serving craft beers and cocktails and showing sport on TV. It even has sofas accompanied by a bookshelf with good reads to flick through on a quiet afternoon. It also serves amazing Thai food. I haven’t been to Thailand, but have been told many times how authentic the food served here is. Not many places can mix a cocktail bar, a coffee spot, sports bar and Thai restaurant in one smallish venue but Firefly really pulls it off.

I have a very mixed review of Firefly… the food was amazing and I would love to go back and try some other dishes. However, the service was terrible from the very beginning. My friend called to book for 6 then later on called back to see if she could add people to the table(total of 8). We were told that was absolutely not possible so we had to uni it’s people– very awkward. We assumed the restaurant would be packed out but on arrival and through out our meal it was clear they could have easily accommodated for us. I’m not sure why they didn’t. The waitress forgot our drink orders and then our meal orders and I had to set the table for us because she forgot to bring out the cutlery earlier. I’m not too harsh so I may return to try some more delicious meals that Firefly has to offer!

I came here for dinner around 6:30 on a Tuesday night and there were quite a few people there. I ordered pad see ew with chicken. It was pretty flavorless and the chicken was tough and chewy. Not the best. The staff was really nice and they gave us a full jug of water. I’m still looking for the best Thai food in London. It’s going to be a tough journey, but I think I’m the woman for the job.

Great little bar serving authentic, tasty Thai food. Generous portions at very reasonable prices! They only have a few tables where they serve food so try to book ahead. They also have two happy hours, the later one being at 10pm so we had some food and then went into cocktails. :-) The cocktails aren’t the best but for the price you can’t complain!

Fantastic, authentic thai food served in generous portions. Really comprehensive beer menu, and regular happy hour. Just one of those places you know will always deliver.

This is a great little bar serving seriously good Thai food and delicious cocktails. The service is quick and the food is flavoursome and satisfying. It is a great place to come for a quick, tasty bite to eat and is really good value for money. During the day they show sports — your usual fare of footballl and rugby. At night the tv’s are off and the music is really cool — think your favourite Indie bands like Blur and Primal Scream, the sixties and seventies greats — The Doors, Beach Boys, Bowie etc with a few current alternative tunes thrown in for good measure and you get the drift! The vibe here is great and the best thing of all is that the happy hour starts at 10pm on a Friday and Saturday night. The cocktails are fantastic and when you get two for £7.50(during happy hour) they are terrific value too! And for those of your partial to a pint or two of beer they have huge range of specialist and craft beers! If you are tired of modern trendy bars with music too loud to even think, let alone have a conversation, who play nothing but a constant re-hash of the latest overplayed charts, and serving nothing but overpriced watered down drinks, then this place is definitely worth a visit!

28 degrees in London is enough to activate the ‘it’s Thai food time’ trigger in me. Their red curry is really perfect(very spicy, original ingredients), haven’t had better Thai curry in London. The salad(Yum Talay) was ok, but not as good as the curry(not spicy at all). Both dishes are parts of my smoke test that I apply each time I visit a new Thai restaurant. This place passed my test and I’ll be coming back.

It is predominantly a bar, but they have one of the most authentic Thai kitchens in south London! One of the best tom yum noodles available, and the pricing is very reasonable given the portion. Also try their satay chicken!

This place is awesome. The best Thai food I have had outside of Thailand, great atmosphere for dining or just drinks. Excellent drinks menu and plenty of seating, the service is very friendly and quick. Another great sticking point is that they have half off specialty cocktails on Saturday nights for ladies. Can’t say enough good things about this place, we love it and come here all of the time. Keep up the great work!

What’s the difference between a bar and a pub ? I am not sure what the distinguishing features of the two are here in England … but in whichever category one classifies firefly, i am confident it will come out on top. I went there twice during the last two weekends to watch world cup matches, and the experience was great. Its located on the south side of Clapham Common between the Clapham South and Clapham Common stations. There’s a glass door and a small courtyard in front of that. Beyond the courtyard is the road across which there is the clapham common. So when you are sitting inside watching the game, you can get a very good view of the park … it almost feels like being outdoors. The interiors are air conditioned and so it was comfortable even during this very hot period. The place was never very crowded when i went … we could even hear the commentary on the tv. The stuffy atmosphere that i associate with pubs in London was completely absent. The experience was delightful. They sell a wide variety of drinks and makes some very good cocktails. I tried one called«Screaming Orgasm». It was definitely not as exciting as the name suggests, but it sure was one of the better Baileys cocktails that i have tried. The food was nice … at least the fish and chips and the sweet potato wedges that i had … and so was the long island iced tea. I didn’t really find anything negative to report about the place while i was there except for the fact that they didn’t have a tv screen in the open yard. But later my friend(who paid the bill) mentioned that it was quite expensive … £12 for fish and chips is not on. Maybe they are taking advantage of the football fever and i was ok with the amount being spent because i was watching a world cup match. I might go back once after the world cup to check on their regular day prices.

Sitting right on the edge of the South side of Clapham Common, this is a perennially popular bar that attracts the crowds of Clapham, particularly on summers days. They do some amazing cocktail deals, as well as jugs of beer and cider to satisfy the thirst of the locals and visitors alike. There is a huge terrace at the front of the bar that, when the suns out, is always rammed. They also offer a full menu, with a wide variety of foods on offer, They have a vast burger and sausage and mash selection, as well as large Mediterranean platters for veggies and meat eaters alike. Firefly is also available for bookings and private parties for up to one hundred and fifty people. If you are planning a summer party, I’d say this is a pretty safe bet. Great location, nice feel and cheap cocktails — fine by me!

I love the Firefly mainly because it’s just a stones throw away from my flat! It can be full of trendy types but has good cocktails, priced okay but not mega cheap. The staff are friendly enough. Can be difficult to get a seat when it’s busy but they have seats outside when it’s not too cold, or for the smokers! The food is worth a visit, during the week they do offers like £5 burger nights. Also have sharing platters and the usual bar type food. Late opening times are a plus, food is served later than most pubs, until about 10pm usually.

Firefly is another of those winebar cum gastropubs that seem to be popping up in ever greater numbers across the outskirts of central London. It is better than most. The atmosphere and décor are hip and modern without being ulracool and exclusive. The small menu has a range of relatively expensive but tasty choices. There are many drinks on offer but what makes Firefly special is that is combines all of these elements and maintains a fresh identity. A good place if you want a change from just going to either a restaurant or pub

Firefly in Balham is a really cute little bar which does great cocktails and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner so it’s a good option at any time of the day. In summer there is outside seating and in winter it always looks warm and inviting. No wonder its always busy too!
