The restaurant describes itself as having ‘adventurous Spanish and Portuguese dishes’. Well, it was an adventure I’d rather have not embarked on. Calming atmosphere, and great service, but I(and my two fresh off the boat Spanish friends) found the food dreadful. Every dish we ordered was a sickening brownish colour, and its contents unidentifiable as a food product. The meat was dry, and the vegetables bland. My friends said they’d never encountered any of the dishes served on the menu… and one of them grew up in the restaurant business in Spain. Grossly overpriced, too.

We went to an exhibition across the street and decided to go here because it was so close. What a great decision that was! A beautiful restaurant with a modern wooden décor(so nice I felt as if I needed to dress up), Eyre Brothers has a great high-quality menu. The staff were super friendly and had no problem with us sharing, as some other nice places do. We got a few starters and some of the mains, and my favourite were definitely the seafood dishes. They have a great wine menu too and we easily shared two bottles. Even when we become quite loud and rambunctious under the influence of the wine, the staff weren’t openly annoyed with us and actually laughed with us. With such nice food and staff, we really appreciated the open atmosphere and unpretentiousness. Love this place!

Decided to try this restaurant after reading a Timeout article that named it as one of the top restaurants in Shoreditch. Maybe if we hadn’t come into the experience with that expectation, my rating would be better. We had the Pimientos de Padrón fritos and the beetroot salad were nice. The grilled leeks with potatoes amounted to 3 leeks(3 pieces of leek? 3 leek stalks??) and what probably amounted to half a potato. I honestly can’t even remember what my partner had but the second we left the restaurant, he said exactly what I was thinking: ‘surprisingly unimpressive’. Pastel de Nata and ‘Fat of Heaven’ desserts were really good. That or we were feeling the bottle of wine we had just finished. Maybe next time we’ll go back for drinks and dessert and just sit at the bar as they do have a great bar area with a bartender who mixed up some great drinks for us.

I love the long bar at Eyre Brothers and the big cushy sofas in the bar area. The bar food is delicious — especially anything fried — and do not forget to order the Portuguese steack sandwich which is absolutely to die for. They keep the rolls coming around to sop up the lovely juice and olive oil coming off the small plates. I love enjoying a glass of wine and a few plates while catching up with a friend. The bartenders are friendly and delightful.

Décor is very nice inside and the staff is super friendly and attentive. Good selection on the«bin end» wine. The Iberico pork cheek was excellent and so was the acorn-fed pig entrée. We had a small seafood platter to start, which was just average.

I went there with a couple of friends on a Friday night and I should have known better, as the place was half empty. Shoreditch and Friday night should not be in the same sentence with ‘empty’! It was occupied by the middle aged couples and a few other groups of people that did not strike me as of a particular age, background or anything else. I’ve ordered calf steak and some greens — it was average, soft but lacking flavour. Drinks — fair size wine list. All about this place was average. I would not recommend this place as for the same price I could get something much more interesting in the area.

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday. She is Spanish, from the part of Spain near Portgual so I thought I’d take her somewhere she could get a taste of home. It was a Tuesday night in January so my booking wasn’t really essential, there were 2 other tables occupied in the whole place. Still it made for attentive(but not overly) waiting staff. We started with the Jamon Iberico which was absolutely excellent. At £20 for a plate it needed to be! Worth it to share one between two though. I had the Fillet of Iberico Pork(at the risk of overdosing on pork) and I have to say it was spectacular. Pork cooked medium rare is exceptionally rare in the UK but this is what they recommend and it was so deliciously soft and tasty. My girlfriend had the Dorada fish which we don’t see often in this country. It was also delicious. The accompianments were great too, the cabbage with chilli side was excellent. They have a good wine list too from Portugal and Spain with a decent range of prices from £19 to £150, so there should be something for everyone. I’d go back here for sure(and probably have the same meal again!)

Gorgeous dark wood décor with creamy, soft lighting and interesting art on the walls. There was a friendly, good –looking waiter who helpfully guided us away from a noisy table so we could have things a bit more«romantic-like», which was very considerate. I thought all the food was top notch: Jamon Iberico, Mozambique prawns, Iberian Pork(served edgily pink). PS: It’s really sad that Andrew W thought the staff were laughing at him — that would have been really mean(and frankly surprising, no?).

Great surroundings, service and wine. However I was left sorely disappointed by the food. We had the spicy rice risotto and grilled pork. The rice wasn’t the least bit spicy and totally lacking in flavour. The pork was perfectly cooked but inexplicably seemed to contain almost no flavour, amazing! My partner and myself both concurred and up til that point had been enjoying a nice evening. Luckily the wine was excellent and I’m guessing, in hind sight, theres a reason why the bar was full and restaurant half empty. I’ll go back in a year or so to see if the food gets better as the general ambiance is so nice but in an area with such great restaurants its inexcusable to fail at the thing you should do best…

Lovely restaraunt and great service. I had the pig shoulder for starter and their AMAZING steak for main. The waiters made sure that no one had an empty glass or wanted for anything(which is not an easy task with a table of 15). One slight negative would be that there is very little choice for vegatarians and no choice for vegans! Veggies beware!

We picked Eyre Brothers based upon its proximity to our hotel and the great reviews it garnered here on Unilocal. Eyre Brothers does not deserve these 5-star reviews. The décor is hip and cozy at the same time, 5 stars there. The service was fine, though we did spot the servers looking our way and laughing, which is not a good feeling, regardless of whether or not they were actually talking about us. We began with the foie gras starter. It was okay, but still probably the best thing we tried. The bread paired with the dish provided a nice crunchy offset, but I was left feeling that the dish was lacking in that nice buttery flavor one would expect from foie gras. My lady friend and I each tried the grilled pork. I feel so upset about this dish because it had so much potential. The pig was grilled perfectly medium-rare and the consistency truly was similar to a great steak. And then the chef went and completely ruined it with a very one-dimensional seasoning. The flavor of cumin overpowered the pork, and the potatoes included with the pork seemed to be seasoned with exactly the same spices. It was such a strange experience, trying to enjoy a dish which looked so much better than it tasted. By this point, we had already spent too much money on underwhelming food, so we didn’t bother to stick around for dessert. Based upon my experience, I cannot recommend Eyre Brothers.

Impressed by the friendliness of the staff considering we were not really dressed up enough for the venue. It is rather corporate looking and most of the customers looked like they worked in the city. The wine list was good and I had a better than normal Albarino, and some delicious pedrons. Squid was a bit undercooked but still tasty. Visually not my type of place.

What a find this restaurant is. The food style is Iberian, which covers Portugal, a part of France, Spain Andorra and Gibraltar. The service was absolutely outstanding — so friendly, and the waiter went to great depths to explain where all food had come from. He also did something I’d never seen before — he outright told us to avoid one of the dishes because it was poor — got to respect that kind of honesty. So, food was great, service was great. It was slightly on the pricey side, but other than that, well worth it.

Eyre Brothers in London is oh-so-delicious with incredibly friendly and helpful staff, lovely dark-wood and pleasant-aroma atmosphere. A friend and I did tapas lunch in the lounge(can’t get them with a table) and 5 items was perfect(goats cheese, jamon serrano, grilled peppers, steak sandwich, chorizo). A bit pricey but that’s because it tastes so good!

If you like food, especially of the Portuguese/Spanish variety, this is the place for you. Very hip décor, nice bar area. Sit with a glass of wine and chat with the friendly bartenders. Oh, jamon iberico, I could write you a sonnet. You were meaty, flavorful and delicious. If only all pork were as delicious as you. And yet, there was acorn-fed pork on a bed of potatoes, medium-rare and wonderful. The beef was a perfectly wintery dish: slow-cooked, soft, and in a thick sauce with roasted onions and potatoes. Pair these with a bold red wine, and you’re in for a great evening. The octopus with potatoes was very good but got outshined by stiff competition. For you vegetarians, there were some vegetarian dishes(even a main dish) on the menu that sounded amazing. Gluten-free notes: The majority of the dishes here are naturally gluten-free. Feel free to pig out like everyone else.

Eyre Brothers hovers between a 3 and a 4. Cons: Overpriced for what you get for most dishes, especially on the mains. The tiger prawn dish may serve up large prawns but you only get three and the seasoning is crude. Menu descriptions versus what you actually taste leave a lot to be desired. The fish dishes were all disappointing(go to Portal in Clerkenwell instead for bacalhau and other Portugese fish dishes). The only main worth eating again was the grilled ibérico fillet with the perfectly roasted, buttery garlic. Pros: Extensive wine list. Friendly service. The starters: Jamón ibérico bellota and foie gras are excellent. This is a better tapas plus drinks venue than a sit-down restaurant.

Sorry Eyre Brothers to burst your 5 star streak. I was really pumped up for this place. It is a big space and it was pretty empty at 8pm on a Friday. I was hoping it would be packed and have a hopping vibe, but the dining area is a bit more formal that I had hoped. I was also hoping to have some tapas, but actually the tapas menu is for the bar, so you get the full menu at the table. The jamon was good, but at 18£ for the appetizer, I was thinking I’d rather be at Barrafina. The mains were all good and hearty, full of flavor and innovation, but didn’t blow my mind. Great wines though – kudos to that. Service was good… our waitress was very friendly but laughed at us being so American by asking for her name. All and all, a good meal and nice experience, but just not cutting it for the 5 star rating.

You know you’re in for a treat when you are presented with a glass of wine and a few thin slices of jamón cut directly from the pig upon entry. In fact, if this isn’t proof that the Eyre brother’s are happily married to beautiful(and painfully satisfied) women, I don’t know what is. All aces first impression. The meal did not disappoint. Deciding between meat and fish was the only potential conflict, so we solved the problem by ordering both. Every flavour was so delicately balanced, the portions were perfect, the wine was suitably recommended and service was spot on. Even the ambiance, which I will admit I originally passed off as sterile and corporate, warmed into a cave de homage to all things Portuguese. Be prepared to splurge, because this magic comes at a price. But for the love of food, venture to Eyre Brothers and leave euphoric.

Upon entering Eyre Brothers my eyes immediately settled upon the Jamónero cutting thin slices off a huge pig leg at a nearby table. A moment later, my dining companion and I were greeted by the host who asked, «Would you like some jamon and sherry?» I was so stunned by the sight of the«5J“Jamón Ibérico Bellota Reserva that I could not properly answer. Luckily, my partner for the evening did not suffer from the same issue and answered a firm«yes» for us both. For dinner I continued with the piggy theme ordering the grilled fillet of acorn-fed Ibérico pork, marinated with smoked paprika, thyme and garlic. I’ve never tasted pork like this before — it was much more like a steak! It was heaven. For dessert we contemplated the dark chocolate amandine but after seeing it come to the table next to us we were glad we chose to share the saffron crème brulée with fresh strawberries instead. To drink we waffled between the easily identifiable Rioja and the more mysterious Do Tinto. Our server brought us a taste of each and the Do Tinto was a clear winner and we each ordered a glass. My experience at Eyre Brothers was absolutely flawless. I’d return in a heartbeat!

That Saturday night my boyfriend and I wanted to try something new. It was around 9.30pm when we finally arrived at the restaurant. We had a look at the menu from outside when someone behind us recommended the place highly — it was the chef. Surprisingly without reservation we were ushered to a table after short time wait. The restaurants interior is decorated with dark wood and black leather. A long bar is positioned from the top to the bottom end of the room. Make sure you have one of the round tables towards the window; reassuring privacy. I can’t stand having neighbours listening in to conversations. The wine selection is very assorted, we went for the French Bordeau, a heavy wine for that night. It complimented the duck dish that was placed on lenses and a delicious sauce and the pork dish, which was cooked tenderly to perfection. If you are a food lover, this is where you have to take your date. I also could imagine this place for family reunions or parents in law.
