The staff is extremely pleasant and prompt service. Clean and has vintage charm.

Close to University of London and British museum. Their ales are OK, but the big score for this place is they have Murphy’s Irish Stout on tap — excellent. The problem is they position two large picnic tables directly outside the doors and then keep the doors open, so all the smoke from the crowd outside makes its way quickly and easily into the pub. There is usually a LARGE crowd of smokers, so that makes this a very smoke filled pub. It is the ONLY pub I’ve visited in London that I had to get up and leave. Will never return.

After a long test at school, my classmates and I came to College Arms for some relaxation and booze. People had made reservations prior to us getting there so we had no problems getting the nice large table at the back. After putting down my stuff, I went to the bar to order some food. I ordered the cheesy fries and asked for a side of their«bloody mary» ketchup as well as a glass of Guinness. The beer obviously didn’t take long but the place was pretty packed. One of the great things about this place is there is no real rush to finish eating and leave. Also, the bathrooms were clean as well, DEFINITELY A PLUS in my book! All in all it’s not the greatest pub/bar in London but it’s not bad either. Result: Decently close to campus, decent food, ok price = A-OK

Cozy, laid back sort of pub(at least on this Sunday evening). Good, but small, selection of ales on tap. Really cool selection of bird cages used as lamp shades(see the pic). Recommended as a good place for a drink and chat before hopping back on to the Warren St tube. Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat, but the bar staff were nice.

Recently refurbished(apparently) a nice small pub with good food(two burgers for the price of one on Wednesdays). The aforementioned burgers are super-rare though(luke warm in the middle…) so make sure you ask for medium/well done if you prefer something a bit more, well, cooked.

Across the road from the Building Centre, this is often visited by people attending meetings or other events there, rubbing shoulders with students and staff from UCL or the College of Law. Comfortably scruffy in terms of its décor, it also has a downstairs function room(with pool table and, I think, a dart board) that can be hired for events. It can get very busy late afternoon/early evening, but at other times it’s a good place to chill out and drink some generally pretty decent beers. I did find it full of noisy, young and impressionable students back in October, but the excitement of being away at university has no doubt begun to pale(and the financial realities have probably kicked in too), so recent visits have seen it slightly quieter and less busy.

I used to com here as a student, and being probally the only art student amongst a ton of UCL and Law students, I liked a break from the norm… or maybe I was their break from the norm? Anyway, this place is at its best during the winter on an a cold afternoon. Once the Law students have had a few snake bites, they tend to perk up abit, and can be very chatty. They have a great pool table, which lets a lively source of attention. It has a very studenty feel, but a nice studenty feel. rather like walking in on a cambridge college bar… sorted.

I went to the College Arms one night with a few friends and we had a blast. It’s pretty standard as far as pubs go but the crowd is almost all students. Sometimes it’s fun to hang out with students, they are so excited about life and just starting to spread their wings. I must admit, at times all that optimism is a bit annoying but hey, we were all that age once, we just like to believe that we were a little more mature, but in retrospect, I doubt it. The décor in the College Arms does feel a bit like a student union, but it is comfortable. The drinks are not bad, it’s a fun place to hang out from time to time, but it’s not the place I’d make my regular pub.

The College Arms, whilst an independent pub, is the hang out for the BPP law school just behind Senate House. It is quite small, although it does have outside seating and goes back quite far. In its décor it is unremarkable; quite similar to a Scream or Wetherspoons. The bar is well-stocked and drinks prices are pretty good. Due to the clientele there is usually a reasonable sized crowd and lively, chatty atmosphere. If you are in the area for work or academics it is a good place for a swift drink.

Go here pretty often after work and always have that mixture of hatred of students who can just hang around and drink all day and have no responsibilities — and jealousy that I never looked so kempt when I was at uni. But whatever. Not a bad pub — normal prices, normal range of drinks. The ale was off for 20 mins last night much to the dismay of my friend who had to endure a lager instead. I discovered a big downstairs room with more seating and stuff yesterday which was very exciting as it was like finding a secret new world or something. I also noticed that they have pub quizzes on Tuesday, so might be time to take those students on

Fact: pubs in this area of London are SHIT. There’s a few decent ones if you venture deep into fitzrovia, but if you’re trying to find somewhere decent for a quick after work beer(or meeting for that matter) you’re screwed. This place is fine. Just fine. But it’s in the same pile as all the other ‘fine’ pubs in the area. Nothing exciting about them. Just, nothingness really. I know, the kind of night out you have depends on the company, so I have a fun time in these pubs, but if I went into work and asked the boys to tell me the name of the pub we were in on Friday, I bet they couldn’t do it. I’m just bored of generic rubbish pubs. The staff were fine, the beer was, actually only average and the place is dull. Yet there was a swarm of people outside like it was the last pub in the world. Oh, prices are not bad: £3 for a bottle of beer. And strangely, when I got my change back from the barmaid, she said good girl. I still don’t know what that meant.
