I enjoyed it for what it was. The ingredients tasted good, but if you’re looking for«authentic» Mexican food, you will need look somewhere else. It tastes a lot like Chipotle to me, but I enjoyed this more. The burritos are very large and could be split into 2 meals.

This place is amazing. The food is just amazing. The staff are very helpful. Every time I come to London I eat here. I had the pork burrito and have tried the spicy chicken burrito. Choices to have guacamole, salsa, sour cream all sorts. The lemonade was beautiful and refreshing.

A decent burrito for a decent price, and that’s saying something coming from a California girl with a particular love of burritos. The staff were super nice, which always makes food taste better as well. My major concern is that their rice could use some work, maybe some lime or cilantro. Great for a quick bite, and easy for vegans. I’ll be back!

I love a good burrito and this place made my day. It’s like chipotle(it’s ok to compare right?). They ve got black beans!!! I LOVE black beans!!! I got a chicken burrito bowl with guac and was in heaven ! Great seasoning on their meats and delicious guac! I was disappointed with their chips, just not much flavour and a bit too cardboard like… But it didn’t ruin my meal so I’m not too bothered about it. I also got their fresh lemonade and it was delicious and refreshing ! Similar to chipotle but different in spices and flavours, both good just different. I’ll take a burrito bowl here any time!

The best place in the WORLD! I would live here given half a chance… The burritos are to die for! My absolutely favourite is the prawn burrito with black beans and peppers with hot salsa and guac… Absolutely delicious… The portion sizes are very generous, so definitely come with an empty stomach. Prices come to around the 8 pound mark with a burrito and guac! Beers are very reasonable around the 4 quid mark. If you are in Islington. No sketch that. if you are in London. It is a must visit!!!

First off, I love the lucha libre motif. Coming from San Diego, CA, I was dubious about burritos in London, but happily found several joints in Angel that I wanted to try, this being the first. I’ve got to say, it was really tasty! Strong, bold flavors, which I’ve had a hard time finding in Mexican form here in London(Indian, Turkish, yes! Mexican… usually fairly bland-ish). The staff was really super sweet and engaged me about where I’m from and asked me questions about California, so that was nice. I’ll definitely be back here when I need my burrito fix!

With all the hype, I thought it was time to break out of my Tortilla trance and try Chilango. This was a mistake. First things first, burrito shops are not Mexican food. Burrito shops are in a category of themselves creatively called ‘burrito shops.’ Perhaps one day this will be understood of the great people of Britain and further afield. Keeping in line with what I order at Tortilla(and what I ordered at Chipotle the day prior), I ordered a naked burrito or burrito bowl or, as it is called at Chilango, a lunchbox, or something like that. It actually took me a bit of time searching the electronic flashing menu to find what I was looking for which is a problem in itself. Side note: Also, I don’t know what it is about shops located on this part of Upper Street but Chilango and Starbucks have the layouts backwards. Consumers have to walk past the tills to get to the ordering counter and then backtrack to get to the tills. For £5.99, the legendary lunchbox included a ‘naked burrito’ and a cup of homemade lemonade. I didn’t need the lemonade but I didn’t see any way of ordering sans lemonade, so lemonade it was. Now, I order the naked burrito to save on calories, so I was a bit surprised when ~10 tortilla chips were thrown on top of my naked burrito. They were thrown so fast that I did not have time to stop them! Also, I suppose if you are a person who likes both cheese and sour cream on your naked or loaded burrito, then £5.99 is probably a deal because Tortilla has an extra charge if you want both cheese and sour cream. I don’t eat sour cream so, no benefit for me. Anyway, I paid and made my way over to the long communal table to fetch my straw, plasticware and a napkin. Hot sauce bottles were located on the table with tiny plastic cups to fill with said hot sauce. This setup reminded me of Taco Cabana in the US and it was a bit strange to be reaching over other diners to grab a hot sauce bottle. So, the food. Well, the chicken is the fattiest chicken I’ve ever consumed at a burrito shop. Every single piece had a blob of fat attached to it which I had to pick off. The fatty chicken killed the meal for me. The chicken was also spicy — more spicy than Chipotle or Tortilla and far too spicy for a young child to eat, so parents take note. The packaging, or lunchbox, was great. It was compostable and was easy to eat out of. I noticed that the lid could easily be ripped off and used as a plate, so that’s what I did. I piled on the fatty chicken blobs and tortilla chips onto the lid to be discarded later. The lemonade was still lemonade and was good but tasted a whole-helluva-lot like supermarket still lemonade. Also, lemonade should always be served over lots of ice, so I think they should offer to add ice to the cup. I admired that the till dude referred to me as a señorita but it was sort of corny at the same time and also burrito shops do not equal Mexican food, so no need for Spanish lingo. Will not return.

I consider myself a burrito snob and I have to say, Chilango is up there with my favourites. Service is super quick, prices are average, taste is explosive. If you’re looking for a quick and delicious bite, go here.

An explosion of flavours and friendliness! I got the«Salad» which is no whimpy thing. It was positively satiating. Pork belly, grilled chicken, steak. Or some of all! Extra Guac? Oh yeah. It was a massive ice cream sort of scoop. That’s not bad. 2 for 1 beer special? Yes! Great flavour and vibe. Fun place where one can relax, have fun, enjoy good food and atmosphere. California dude approved.

It’s almost actual Mexican fast food!(The UK might get there soon). Totally a Chipotle rip-off, as many other burrito-type places in London are, but Chilango gets it mostly right. Tacos on soft corn tortillas, pico de gallo that has a taste, and decent service. Woot!

My favourite joint for lunch on the go during a busy workday. I normally have the Grilled Chicken salad primarily because I find it easier to eat! For a regular salad under £6 is good value for money. Double meat costs £2.50 extra. Go big only if you have a huge appetite. They do Chicken, Steak, Pork and Prawns. Cost vary but mostly around six quid mark for a meal. It could be a Burrito, Nudo(or naked burrito), Salad or Tacos. The set up is that standard Mexican joint like the Chipotle or Tortilla but the flavours just burst through every bite you take. Conveyor belt model with multiple persons servicing. Spice Rice, Black or Pinto Beans, Grilled Bell Peppers, Three sauces of varying heat factor is perfect match for your food. I personally go for a mix of mild(salsa) and hot. The chicken(and presumably other meats as well) is seasoned and cooked to perfection. A dash of sour cream and cheese and their own proprietary dressing makes my salad perfect. I skip the Guacamole as it is charged £1 and is a shame. Having said that is quite good and is better tasting then others out there. Decent selection of drinks including home made Lemonade and beers and some interesting lunch combos. They experiment new recipes from time to time and they are currently doing a slow cooked shoulder of pork which I got to taste today and it was pretty good. If you have been to the other standard Mexican on the go places you will know what to expect however the flavours will blow you away and the Islington branch will transport you to Mexico the way it is decked up, check out the seating upstairs which is creatively done! Last but not least the happy smiling welcoming staff complete the experience! Highly recommended!

I reeeeallllyyy wanted to love this place. Interesting décor? Check. Focused menu and hipsters working? Check. Should be good, right? Unfortunately it was only average. My wife and I each had a burrito, which we agreed are no better than the Chipotle up the street. For really good burritos I prefer Daddy Donkey on Leather Lane. I will try this place again though if I’m in the area. OH! Also, a few things(that I left on a comment card there) — 1. Always have full ingredients hot and at the ready. The ‘burrito artist’ was going to scoop the last of the chicken into my burrito before I caught him. 2. The black beans were sticky and undercooked, closer to re-fried. 3. The guacamole(which costs extra) was fairly bland. 4. Tap water containers were empty. So, all seems fixable with a little hustle and someone watching over the whole operation.

Tasty nachos, covered in all sorts of layers of goodness. Great that they have Mexican beer as well(or at least what I think is Mexican beer?). I particularly enjoyed the background music, which seemed to include Latin music renditions of popular classics. Good counter seating as well, lots of nice light. In other words: best place to go for a quick bite if you’re in the area.

I really liked this place. I had the prawn burrito and split veggie nachos with a friend. This turned out to be a lot of food. I did have to wait about 10 minutes for the prawns to cook, but it was worth the wait. The nachos were great as well. The atmosphere was relaxed and staff friendly.

It was OK, maybe slightly better than OK. But honestly, I don’t know what all the fuss is about. I had Chicken Tacos with the«hot» salsa … ahem. Tasty it was, smothered too much in cheese and cream and not much else. The extra buck for the smallest smudge of Guacamole seemed a bit cheap really. Maybe my choice was poor because the Prawn Nudos looked and tasted much better, if you can wait«five» minutes for them to cook it fresh. Jarritos(lime) was a major plus. Maybe we might give it one more try, but plenty other interesting places just a bit further up Upper St, so it may be some time

Like the plethora of burrito joints in Angel this one is great, price point a little bit higher than tortilla. The meat is thick cut cubes and marinated in spices which is really tasty. Place is decorated hipster style with bright florescent colours. For me the sauce on offer makes the meal complete. Sauce choices are piquin chilli sauce for the medium heat, habenero for the hot. I personally prefer cholula which can be found in tortilla. Overall a nice place to grab a quick bite to eat.

It’s great when a restaurant maintains it’s quality of service and standard of food! I’m also loving the new salad options!
