i would probably give this place more stars if it were in another area. Chiswick has a very high caliber of restaurants so it’s hard to give more that 3 stars. great steak, good service but the atmosphere is lacking on occasion.
Would definitely go again but only if there was no table anywhere else. In chiswick that means it might take a while to get back.

Not bad but also not great. With the proximity of so many other great alternatives they really need to up their game a bit. Other reviews here are all positive so might give them another try. If the food could match the promise of the service and the pleasant ambience it would deserve another star…

For what it is, Chez Gerard in Chiswick is a fine place to spend a couple of hours in the evening. It gets busy in there towards the weekend though.
The menu is a little restrictive at times, but does change fairly regularly. On a recent visit I had the steak entrecôte, which while cooked to perfection was a tad fatty for me. I would have liked to have seen a great selection of vegetable options, but it is primarily a steak and frites restaurant.
The wine list offers reasonable value and a fair selection. Don’t go expecting fine vintages though.
