Getting a good espresso in London is not easy. The espresso at bread & butter was the best so far. With good creama and fresh fruity taste. They use La Marzocco espresso machine which goes to show how serious they are about their coffee.

Thanks to Unilocal for helping us gaggle of girls find the best hangover breakfast in town! Dishes are huge so be prepared to have an empty tummy when ordering.

Love this place, best prices in Haggerston for coffee and breakfast! I’d recommend the breakfast sandwich which includes sourdough toast, and who doesn’t love sourdough toast?!

Great place for coffee, a nice hearty meal and a place to read or do work. Staff are always lovely and the breakfast options aren’t too bad either.

Great place for breakfast! Friendly and efficient service… and very clean. The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual. Love to catch up with friends here as it’s not too loud. Lovely outside seating as well.

This is my favourite local coffee shop for breakfast on weekends(sadly I dont get to visit much during the week as I dont work in the area). The food is top quality, the vibe is unpretentious and the coffee is great. They also have a little deli on site so you can get fare to take home, all in all just a lovely little place.(Tea pigs tea too!)

Nice place, well located and small cute terrace space for sunny days… Menu looks good but doesn’t taste as good.

Great quiet little neighbourhood coffee shop. Staff is very friendly and bring food/drinks to your table which doesn’t always happen in London. Got an Americano for £2 and chicken avocado sandwich for £4 — very fair prices for this part of London. They also sell a selection of granolas, whole grain pastas, breads, coffee and teas around the shop — kinda like a semi little health food shop. Best part of the coffee shop is it’s very quiet so it’s never an issue to find a seat and they’ve got fast wifi. Overall a great coffee shop if you’re in the area.

I LOVE this place! From the outside it may not look so awe-inspiring, but in my opinion it is one of the nicest cafes around this area. Open from 7am-7pm, there always seems to be someone — if not a crowd — of people enjoying the fare inside. The staff are friendly, the food and beverages taste great and are reasonably priced. The portions are generous too. The soups — made on the premises– are to die for and come with liberal portions of various different breads, toasted with a pat of butter. Gorgeous. It’s one of those places where you can sit with a book or laptop and stay for ages without feeling awkward or that you need to leave once you’ve finished your drink or meal. Mismatched tables and seating mean that you can sit at a large table with friends or at small tables or benches along the front window if you’re on your own. There also sofa seating available. Good music and dog friendly too! It doesn’t get much better than this place!

Maybe we’ve been in London for far too long and have become accustomed to the rip off prices, but it is rare to find a cool hipster café serving decent food at reasonable prices. £5 for blueberry pancakes with bacon, summer fruit compote and granola — bargain! Granted, ‘Bread and Butter’ are in the unremarkable end of Shoreditch, on the sooty main road near Haggerston overground but this neighbourhood is becoming a foodie destiny(Dukes brew and que, Tonkotsu East). Baby chairs on hand.

Really nice place, great food and drink! Rustic chilled décor, relaxed atmosphere. Amazing choice of cakes! I’ve been a few times for coffee and the last time went for a late breakfast(they serve breakfast till about 7pm!). Myself and a friend ordered salmon, scrambled eggs on brown toast with a side of avocado. Couldn’t of been more perfect! I also got a fresh juice. Also great. Friendly staff, nice crowd. Will definitely be going back.

Finally a coffee shop that’s has seats available and working wifi. The coffee is fairly priced(Americano £2) and staff is nice. Good spot if you want to get in the zone and get stuff done on your computer.

This is my favourite coffee place at the moment. Perfect if you want to take your laptop or book and stay there all day. Socket points are accessible by about 30% of the seats and never had a problem to move to a different seat if I needed to plug my laptop. As they have long shared tables and also individual seating areas by the window you never feel like you need to give up your seat to someone else. Décor is great and they have a range of books available to read. Food is delicious and varied and you do feel like you get value for money as most brunch offers are very well priced under a tenner. Coffee is really good and they do use quality soya milk. They also have a delicatessen section so you can shop gourmet or organic type of food and snacks to take home with you.

Finally got to try this relatively new café/coffee shop in Haggerston. Just a short stroll from the Overground station, it’s a great addition to the area and I’ll definitely be back. Plenty of tables, chairs, and a bit of outdoor seating too. Free wifi and loads of outlets for keeping charged while getting work done. The café’s aesthetic is modern and clean, while also remaining homely and warm. I enjoyed a nice foamy chai latte, but didn’t get a chance to try any food on this visit. They seem to have a good selection of sandwiches, salads, brunch entrees and baked goods. All seem reasonably priced, so I’m keen to sample some of their offerings on my next visit. To top it off, unrushed service with a smile! :-D
