I visited this place last weekend as I had won an Afternoon tea for Two voucher from a competition that I had entered previously. We were sat along the sofas and our orders for tea were taken by the waitress. Not long after, our food was brought to the table, served on a mini wooden shelf, which was quite interesting. it was quite big, and the table wasn’t exactly very spacious, but we eventually managed to fit everything on the table, with a bit of maneuvering. There were four different types of sandwiches each, two scones each which came with clotted cream and Tiptree jam pots. There was also a macaron, a tart and a couple of cake squares to share. I’ve had afternoon tea in a few places, and this was actually pretty average. The place and ambience didn’t quite strike me as a place to have proper afternoon tea. I’ve had afternoon tea in a few different hotels(The Royal Horseguards being my favourite), and this didn’t live up to my expectations. Service was attentive at the beginning, but we were kind of neglected towards the end. I had trouble waving for a waitress to top up my tea with water, that I gave up in the end. I can’t really comment much else about the regular restaurant menu and bar, but if you’re looking for afternoon tea, this is not the place for it.
