Very sweet place ! Very cosy and lovely — music is good too ! You really feel the good mood and the food and drinks are nice. Such a shame that it closes so early :(

A tad noisy on a Friday night. Chairs and all a bit random. Nice staff. Searched on entry. The people were nice — offered a seat! Music noisy, tough on my vocal cords. The pizza was nice albeit slightly snack-like but nice & v.thin.

Do you know those Hackney 4 years too late bars with million £ makeovers that look like dumps but are so deliberately dumpy that they seem desperate? You know how they’re trying really really hard to be something they’re just not? Well those places wish that they were Bar Story. Bar Story doesn’t give a crap about pretence. This place reminds me of an old not for profit haunt in Edinburgh. It’s unpainted walls and unfinished floors. Random junk everywhere and boarded up window panes. Bar Story gets it done cheaply and quickly so you can go stand outside next to the fire, fag and drink in hand and chat to your friends about the fact that the new Beach House album has nothing on their old stuff. Last time I was here they had had their license revoked for noise and couldn’t stay open past 10.30pm. That didn’t seem to stop hoards of people gathering here on a Friday night though. Most seemed to be en route to nearby Bussey Building but we all stuck around until it was time to close. I didn’t drink much since it was so packed but loitered outside with my friends nursing a pint of ale, courtesy of someone else so I have no idea how much it cost. Bar Story isn’t hard to find but you do need to know where you’re going. It’s housed in one of the arches underneath Peckham Rye station. Access is off the main road rather. Just follow the hipsters.

I’ve been coming to Bar Story regularly over the last two years since moving to Peckham. Situated under Peckham Rye station in one of the arches is this bar with some of the best cocktails* I have tasted. The bartenders are good at mixing their drinks while being pretty fast at serving(believe me it gets busy during happy hour). The food is quite limited in variety but it makes up for it with the quality — the pizzas are the best kind; thin and loaded with topping, all made better on a Tuesday where it is 2 for £10. It’s a large airy space with loads of seating and a pleasant outdoor area which is best when it’s dark when the fire is lit and you can hear the hustle of the people and trains in the station above. *BEWARE: either I’m an awful lightweight or those cocktails are very strong, always leaving me feeling tipsy after just two!

Bar Story holds a special place in my heart. I spent 6 weeks traveling alone in Europe this fall, and some of the most beautiful experiences occurred when I allowed myself to wander and get lost in the experience. Tucked between a row of car repair shops and under a train overpass, Bar Story is the epitome of a hidden gem. It’s a warehouse converted into a café with a full bar. Finding this spot can be a bit tricky because you enter through an alley in the back. They have happy hour from 6 – 7 every day where you can get two cocktails for 7 instead of 6 each. Their food menu includes burgers, nachos and various bar bites. I even asked if they could make me a salad because they didn’t have them on the menu and they happily obliged. Bonus points for free wifi! With plentiful communal tables and a comfy couch, you can feel free to prop open your laptop, kick up your feet and stay a while :)

Bar-shop-BBQ with a chilled out atmosphere and good drink selection. Only had humous to eat here but that was yummy. The espresso martini was also great.

This bar isn’t bad but their cocktails are fairly brutal as they aren’t mixed and on the strong side. The beers are ok but the whole place could do with some spit & polish as it is fairly dirty & grungy. Overall it has the feeling of a student bar and so if that is your thing go for it.

A nice place to have some drinks or grab a lunch with a friend. They offer pretty much every common dish that every Londoner loves. The atmosphere is good and you can enjoy a nice conversation without any unnecessary noises around you.

Went here last Friday but was not that impressed. The place was way too crowded and that affected the turnaround time of our orders. The drinks came slower than anywhere else. Maybe you should think of hiring more staff.

I was chuffed to come across this space, right near Peckham Rye and the Peckhamplex! Had a seriously good expresso martini. In fact, there’s a nice story behind it. I don’t really like lime, but I was pushing myself to like it more so I ordered a drink that contains lime and asked for«just a little, tiny bit of lime, ok?» Well, when I tasted the drink, it was awash in lime! I didn’t feel like going through the hassle of going back to the bar and asking for a new one so I tried to force down a few sips. But the friends I was with fortunately wouldn’t tolerate my sulking with a nearly untouched drink in my hard, so I went back to the bar and explained. The bartender was very friendly and said he would drink my drink and make me a new one, no cost. He suggested the espresso martini, so I went with that(no lime in sight!) and loved it. The fire pit smell made me think of Burning Man, and it was drizzling a bit so sitting close together on the long wooden benches with the fire and the rain and a delicious drink was really nice.

Part of the appeal of Bar Story is definitely the great location. Underneath the railway arches it was a grungey appeal with a small outside area. One problem is that it closes pretty early, I guess because it is in a residential area.

Bar Story is divey cocktail bar in a cool space. I arrived at Peckham Rye Station at around 8:30pm on a Thursday evening. The neighborhood was dead. Storefronts closed. Streetlights dimmed. Sidewalks empty. These positive Unilocal reviews seemed less plausible. After a short walk, I found the bar and was quickly enamored by its quirky charm. As others noted, the bar is located in an archway under the station. There is a small outdoor area covered with greenery. The sliding front door opens into an industrial space with exposed fixtures and wooden tables. It’s a great place for meeting up with large group of people or having a nice chat. I only gave this place 4 stars because of the DJ. There’s a DJ booth in the back of the bar, but s/he was not present on this particular night. Instead, there was an unattended Macbook Pro streaming what must have been a «Best of Beyonce» playlist. Very odd. If making playlists featuring one artist is all it takes to be a DJ, then someone put me behind the 1’s &2’s :-/

A cool bar under the arches. A cool bar under the railway viaduct by Peckham Rye station. Inside is cool, kinda rough around the edges(intentionally) making the most of the space. Outside is a nice garden with planters and seating. Cocktails are good, better value during happy hour(which is 6 – 7 if memory serves) and the service is pretty efficient. A good place to start a night out in Peckham. My only gripe, as with many of the new crop of venues that have appeared in Peckham in recent years, is how white and middle class the clientele is. I mean, if you’re in one of the most ethnically diverse areas of London and everyone around you is white and you DON’T think that’s an issue then I kinda worry about you. Multiculturalism is not there to provide a colourful background to your life!

The cocktails are delicious and the choice is marvelous! I used to go here a few times a week but rarely go now because I finally met the owner. Such an impolite and conceited man. It really upset me to see how rude he was to customers who he wasn’t on a first name basis with (i.e.most of the clientele). The comments he made seemed very ‘high school.’ It saddens me that I can’t enjoy their coffee martinis or sex on the beach cocktails anymore, without remembering that its funding this unfriendly little man.

Tuesday night’s 2 pizza’s for a tenner. And good pizzas at that — thin, crispy and with tomato & cheese and up to four toppings you get to mix and match your toppings. Housed in an arch just under Peckham Rye station this is one cool bar with a Shoreditch/Dalston vibe that seems out of place in the area. Massive confusion over their last orders though. First it was 10pm, then it wasn’t, then it was no cocktails or draught beers, then it was none, then it was«ah well it’s staff only now» but then they didn’t kick us out. I suppose I should be grateful but some clarity would have helped.

Great chilled out bar nestled away in Peckham, two Pizzas for £10 on Tuesdays always good. Great outdoor area with trampy fire, nice cocktails; people and food. If in Peckham. worth a visit.

If you’re a hype-weary Londoner like me and fancy something a bit different, you could do worse and venture off the beaten track down to Bar Story. So OK, Peckham’s never been its own best PR agent but in the last five-10 years, those in the know recognise that something interesting has happened. Peckham has gone all snooty and is in the midst of serious gentrification. Have you seen the house prices? Much like the Hoxton/Shoreditch distrcit in the mid-90s a wave of oh-so-cool businesses have infected the area. Bar Story leads the charge. What I like about this place — apart from those filling potato wedges — is the understated nature of the venue. Random suits and bemused city folk mingle with hardcore locals and weirdly-dressed students, whom mainly I guess spill out from Camberwell School of Art. they run the full-stocked bar too. All tribes exist in any easy coalition on any given day of the week. Perhaps the surest sign of its success is the early-ish closing time: local residents were getting fed up with way too much noise! Leave your stereotypes and preconceptions wherever you leave such things and take a look.

Bar Story seems a bit out of place next to Peckham Rail Station and the dingy Peckham High Street. It reminds me of a place you’d find in Hoxton /Shoreditch. They have a warehouse ambience, young crowd, and long cocktail menu. In the evening there were lots of people sitting out front around bonfires. Big shared tables, free wifi, and occasionally some free art exhibits(in the building behind the bar/restaurant). I’ve only been there a couple times, but if I still lived in the area I’d go more often.

As a non-local(but almost a friends-visitors-local) with frequent visits in Peckham I sorted my favorite hideaways out — after my third visit. Peckham seems to offer ultimately rare places where you’d love to spend your time but here is one: Story, good for every time of the day. Breakfast, small snacks, or enjoying drinks with your friends at any time of the day. Here we go. The alternative and arty atmosphere promises a relaxed attendance. Lovely!

I always have a great time at Bar Story, hidden under some railway arches in deepest Peckham. It is a really casual, shabby bar, with hints of Eastern Europe. The food is good and affordable, your classic burgers etc. There is also a space at the back where new artists can show off their work, and which you can also hire as a party venue and works out very well, with a sort of morrocon feel– cushions on the foor etc. There is an almost squat like feel to the place. There are loads of cocktails on offer, bottled beers and wine. Drinks are reasonably priced. There are always good DJs playing stuff like remixed hip hop, generally fun.
