Astor Hyde Park

This hostel is located is fancy Knightsbridge on the edge of Hyde Park and just a stone’s throw from the Royal Albert Hall. The building is a charming one, typical for this part of town with lots of stucco in the hallways and great wooden staircases. The rooms are alright, however, more than just spartan. Honestly, there weren’t even hooks on the wall on which to hang jackets or else. Not a single stool or bench to sit on or put something down. The windows don’t close well and so it is rather drafty all the time. Good points include the secure key locks, clean sheets, a kettle and a TV in the room. The free Wifi the hostels boasts does not work, we tried for three consecutive days with five different phones and never had a connection. Same for the credit card machine it didn’t take any of our cards so we all had to pay cash in the end. We were also a bit irritated by the vending machine which seems to get rather fill-​ups. Another good point is the luggage room, which seems kind of safe. All-​in-​all it is an acceptable place to stay if you’re mainly concerned about budget and location.

Este hostal es fantástico para grupos de amigos. Sale muy bien de precio y además hacen descuento con el carnet de estudiante internacional (ISIC). Está situado en un buen barrio, muy cerca de Hyde Park. No está en la zona más céntrica de Londres pero tiene dos paradas de metro muy cerca, con lo que en menos de 20 minutos estás en el centro seguro.
El alojamiento incluye desayuno (tostadas, galletas, cereales, café, zumo y leche) y hay cocina con neveras muy grandes donde además puedes guardar tu comida y comer allí siempre que quieras.
En cuanto a las habitaciones, en general son compartidas en literas y las hay con y sin baño particular (según el precio); pero todo está muy limpio y hay sitio suficiente para que cada uno pueda guardar sus cosas. También hay alguna habitación individual o para dos personas. La pega es que no hay ascensor.
Tiene un salón con televisor y ordenadores con internet de prepago, por lo que siempre hay gente con quien charlar a cualquier hora. En el salón comedor también hay un billar. También hay servicio de lavandería por un módico precio.
Lo mejor es que hay muy buen ambiente, parece una residencia de estudiantes. Además la recepción está abierta toda la noche asique si quieres salir por la noche no hay problema.

Hostel type place in good location is south Kensington. Clean, modern accomodation. Very secure, with key card entry. Budget travellers will most appreciate this hostel as there are no frills.
