Wowwww!!! Me & my partner have been eating Thai food around London over the past 19 years. For our 19th anniversary we went back to this restaurant, after eating here 9 years ago we thought it might have gone down hill but boy weren’t we wrong, the food here is Banging!!! On point on everything we ordered. Would highly recommend this Thai restaurant to any 1st time eaters of Thai food. We’ve eaten @ the Blue Elephant & this is a close 2nd place on our list now.

By far the best Thai in the neighborhood and great quality with both eat in and take away. I have take away delivered more than I visit but if I have business guests in town it’s one of the places I will take them instead of the west end. The staff on the phone can find it hard to take addresses at times but it’s worth hanging in till they get it right.

I’m pleased to give this place 5 stars for their food, atmosphere and amazing service! I’ve been walking by the restaurant many times and finally had a chance to go inside the other night. I was pleasantly surprised how it looked nothing like I imagined from outside. It was quite spacious and theatrical with lanterns and partial roofs sticking out from walls to give you an illusion as if you were outside. Dark red and brown décor with candles created calm and cozy mood. The double door and the bar was blocking any cold winter air from getting inside :) The service we received was amazing. Our waiter seemed highly trained. He was quiet and never really interrupted conversation to ask if we were doing okay, yet he kept a watchful eye and filled drinks, removed lids & dishes and brought new utensils etc. And their food lived up to other elements of this restaurant! I loved both taste and presentation :) Tord Mun Pla This deep fried fish cake had a hint of spiciness. The sauce was unique, it may have been chili oil with peanuts and green onion rather than typical water-based chili sauce. Tomkha Hed Tomatoes in the coconut soup enhanced the sourness and it was very tasteful. It was served in a cute pot with lid. Pad Thai I try this classic dish at any Thai place I go for the first time and I think Pad Thai at this restaurant was the best in London so far! It did not feel too salty like most other places did. Goong Ob Woonsen I’ve never seen this seafood dish anywhere before, quite interesting. Squid and shrimp baked with glass noodles. It was well mixed with veggies and ginger was not overwhelming. It was served in a pretty pot heated by a candle. Mango & Sticky Rice There was no dessert menu, so make sure to ask your waiter what is available! The rice was not overly sweet and sesame sprinkled on top gave a nice flavor. It went really well with sweet & sour ripe mango. I’d be happy to come back to this neighborhood restaurant :)

I am a personal chef of Thai cuisine so don’t tend eat out much at Thai restaurants but I really do like this little neighbourhood Thai restaurant. The food is good. My favourite dish is their seafood crispy noodles. Also the owners and their staff are lovely. Plus the atmosphere with its subtle lighting is very relaxing.

Of all the Thai restaurants on Lavender Hill this is the best but the least known unless you are in the ‘know’. Family run with that old fashioned interior that somehow relaxes you and then the food is delicious and the service friendly– so ticks all boxes. So to be specific on the food, here are some personal recommendations, thai dishes that I tried elsewhere and found to be indifferent but at Amazing Thai absolutely titillate the taste buds. Yum Neau– sirloin steak salad though be warned it is very hot though you can ask them to make it with a little less chilli! Lamb Massman– fragrant and tender. For a starter try Kratong Tong which is small crispy baskets filled with pork, prawns and sweetcorn(desc. lifted from their menu) but their dumplings are my absolute favourite. In recession times these little excellent local places need support hence this review, otherwise, I wouldn’t be letting on as there is nothing worse than finding your neighbour gem full to the rafters and you can’t get in!
