CASHONLY! BEWARE! Hidden gem at Angel /Islington! Absolutely fantastic English Breakfast at a steal! This small restaurant is located in the heart of the farmers market at Islington. It is very small, so expect it to be busy during meal times, but I can tell you it is definately worth the wait. While we were there for my first Full English Breakfast I could watch the owners go shop right outside the farmers market to bring the ingredients for their cooking. It can’t get fresher than this. It is a hidden gem at cheap prices you won’t find that easy in London. The service is also very personal and they are always making sure you are taken care of.

Good find for a hangover helper. You can roll up looking crazy and it’s all good. This super casual old school café is known for its breakfast. They’re never open for dinner and close by 2pm on the weekends. Neighborhood joint that has a lot of character, from the sports memorabilia strewn over the walls to the repeat local clientele chatting it up with the wait staff as though they’ve been friends forever. Can get packed on the weekends but the vibe is very relaxed. You could sit solo for hours reading the paper while enjoying a hearty breakfast. You pay(cash only!!!) at the counter once you’re finish with your meal so no one is rushing you off by forcing the bill on you. The prices are great. My salmon special(seemingly always on the menu) of poached eggs, pan fried salmon and wilted spinach atop 2 perfectly toasted English muffins with a sour cream sauce came with a choice of tea or coffee(black or white) for under £6. The food was delicious and the coffee was impressively frothy!

A small Italian family run café/dinner for over 50 years… impressive. They serve a special menu which changes almost every day(they also do the standard burgers and omelettes). My favourite is the salt beef with gherkin and mustard in a bloomer sandwich… side order of chips. There breakfasts in my opinion are they best in North London, premium food for normal prices. The staff are really friendly and this explains why the café has been in the family for 50 yrs. the venue is filled from floor to ceiling with pictures of great sporting moments I. e football, boxing, F1. If your in the islington area defo give this place a try.

I don’t really know what else you’d want from a fried breakfast at the weekend. I’ve had the jumbo a couple of times — great way to set yourself up for the day or get over a hangover. It’s cheap, quick and easy. The walls are also covered in pictures of late 90s footballers which is a nice touch!

A rather surprisingly good greasy spoon tucked at the back of chapel street and offering a fantastic menu of breakfast and lunch options. The downside is that the place is a tad small and cramped and the staff can be a bit abrupt. That said i still go there when i want a filling and good value breakfast-check out their eggs benedict and close your eyes for a second and you could imagine you are back in New York Today I’m trying the Alpino chicken salad. and its really delicious! just added a star because the service and the menu has got even better.

Jacky likes this place. Good greasy spoon menu but some nice specials too although the overall menu is a bit lacking. Nice to have fresh sauteed potatoes when u ask coz I’m at war with the frozen chip. Very friendly old Italian couple own the place so Jacky happy!

This used to be a proper traditional caff until the current owners came in and ripped out all the antique features. Scandalous.

Nice little family run restaurant in Islington. They do lots of traditional Italian dishes, but I went in for breakfast as they’re open early. It’s a very cozy place and everything was decked out for Christmas(and X-Factor — they were showing their support for local girl Alexandra). My eggs were good, my bacon not so much, and the bubble had loads of veggies in it. It’s a pretty good find for vegetarians as they do a full vegetarian breakfast that might actually be larger than the full English. I think what would bring me back, though, is the staff. The restaurant is run by a sweet older Italian lady that is the quintessential Italian grandmother. She was very cheerful and concerned that we enjoyed our food and keen to bring us a second round of everything. I am sorely tempted to go back for dinner. Plus the pastries is in the case looked really nice.
