One of the best, most historic, and important Gay bars in the UK. It’s small but perfectly formed. Ignoring the importance behind the history of the bar, the staff are all incredible and friendly to all. on top of that you get top class entertainers, largely drag artists, every night. There’s never a dull moment in the Duncan!

I really like this place — full of a real community vibe and always has great acts on. Big fan of the fact it doesn’t turn away non-gays. Was in there recently and the diversity was spectacular. It isn’t the biggest — but you can easily spend an evening there, it’s pretty cheap.

The Admiral Duncan was my favorite pub to visit during the week my husband and I spent in London. It’s kind of small and can get crowded, but the people we encountered were very friendly. This was our first stop on our first night when we went out to explore SOHO’s nightlife. I’m not much of a beer drinker so I asked the bartender to give me a pint of what the locals drink, and he did not disappoint. I found myself actually liking their beer selection! I could definitely see myself becoming a regular if I lived in London.

For some alternative fun in a London on a Sunday night, watch the drag show here. Great fun! It’s a small popular gay pub.

The Admiral Duncan is a gay bar in the Soho area of London. It was a site to a bombing in 1999, an attack against gays. There is a chandelier that is a memorial to those who were killed. This was actually the bar that had the cheapest drinks that I noticed in London. They had a drink special of only 2 pounds for a list of mixed drinks. Most beers were 4 pounds throughout our time in England. The people here were also friendly. They asked if we were Canadian or American. I found this place to have some of the friendliest people. The people who we met were actually transplants from South Africa. This place has a historical significance, and the drink prices are less expensive than other places.

I dig this bar. Cozy, friendly, decently priced drafts and well located. Good tunes on the jukebox too. Also, not gonna lie, I totally have a crush on one of the bartenders. It looks like they have some cabaret shows and stuff going on different nights, but I’ve yet to check those out. I probably will, though, as an excuse for checking out something… er, someone else.

This famous pub is not really my kind of bar, mostly because of the selection of drinks available. Really couldn’t see anything interesting at all. A friendly enough place for a drink though.

i used to enjoy monday’s karaōke nights for two years regurarly, it was magic a very professional Jivin Julie DJ was in charge, Julie has been axed, she was doing a greit job, with lots of passion, i thought i still give a try and went there, the dissapointment was too much a very amateurish dj dressed in drag was there, very boring and unexperienced We want Julie back,

A great place to meet friends but don’t expect to get a seat… there are few of them and impossible to be had at a busy time, which is most of the time. The Dun does offer internet access but what is the point if you can’t put down your laptop anywhere. Nice friendly pub all the same, especially for the older gay.

The Admiral Duncan was unfortunately one of the targets of the Brixton nail-bomber which killed and injured many people, both gay and straight and which shocked the whole community. That it refused to disappear and rebuilt itself is a testament to it’s owner and the popularity of the place. Small in size, the bar attracts a similar crowd to Comptons across the road, that of hairy Mary’s, older gents and those not swayed by the ostentation of some of the bars in Soho. It is a good, solid bar which has friendly staff and drinks priced reasonably. More than that it is a constant sign of the resilience of the gay community and a physical landmark in the road to equality.

Certainly one of the most famous bars on Old Compton Street, though not necessarily for the best of reasons. It’s a fairly small bar and can get very crowded, but it does attract a good natured, if raucous crowd. Certainly one visitors to the area should try

A gay bar smack bang in the centre of Soho’s gay district, this place has history as well as character. The general description of this place is that it is a long corridor of bar. There is a good selection of drinks due to the increased bar layout but this means a decrease in seating, tables and any resting of any kind. The prices are good, the beer is better and the staff recognise you if you go in more than twice! Not bad me thinks!

The scene of tragedy some years ago(thanks to the nail bomber targeting the gay punters) — the Admiral Duncan has bounced back. I did prior to the bombing and since still wonder what the attraction is. It’s a very narrow, dark pub where you can barely move. Thanks to the attack the security is always very tight and it’s one of the few places where you will have you bagged searched every time you go in. Guys tend to spill out onto the street but to be honest I cannot be bothered — if I end up on the street then it’s truly too much of a chore to work your way back into to get to the bar. A tradition on the gay circuit but your welcome to it.

The Admiral Duncan is one of the oldest gay bars and, through it’s unfortunate bombing a few years back, has become a sign of resilience and strength amongst the gay community. I’ll admit the bar really isn’t to my taste. It attracts a slightly older crowd and is more traditional than some of the bars i prefer to frequent. However, the place is very well run and respected by it’s regulars, the drinks prices and good for Soho and the atmosphere can be brilliant amongst those present. If you’re into the more mature guy or happen to be happily coupled up and want somewhere less intense to sit and have a drink then you could do worse.
