The Nile should be called The Vile. This place is the place you regret going the day after when your hungover and no those stomach pains aren’t from all the booze you drank its from the shifty effort of a kebab that you ate without question whilst you where worst for ware. I no this place is Egyptian and I think they unearthed the donner meat they have in on of the tombs or maybe it’s the curse of Tutankebab that make this ****hole so disgusting. The staff are cheeky to don’t bother complaing ull just get abuse, like its your fault they make scatty food. Also they like to deliver your food with a car full of young lads snarling at your like you’ve disturbed their night, awwwww my heart bleeds for you do your job or the one of you that has a job THEDRIVER. Driver leave the groupies at home. Horrendous food no customer service boycott this ****hole.

Great kebabs! Went here for the first time situated on smith down road. Prime position for students. Uses clay ovens to Cook kebabs. The kebab was very tastey! Though portion size was slightly small in comparison to the siZe of the bread. Very flavoursome and moist. I will be back here :)

Waited for our food for what felt like an eternity. The staff just constantly spoke between themselves and made us feel uncomfortable. I regretted ordering there immediately after we ordered. I don’t mind having to wait, but I do mind not even an apology for the half an hour wait.

I have never had a kebab like it, my first time I have had a kebab from there as only recently moved to Liverpool. Fresh ingredients used by the taste, kebab was in a naan bread, excellent portion, great value for what you get. would recommend to anyone. little long on delivery but you can’t rush quality like this marvelous.

What does the average hall-dwelling student do when they’ve missed meals, the cupboards are bare and they only have a broken fridge packed with decaying meat and a dozen bottles of low-fat salad dressing? Yeah… I think pizza is in order. Good, greasy, cheap sustenance, no cutlery needed. Everyone here gets their pizza from The Nile, so we figured we would too — now I think we made a huge mistake, and anybody following my reviews will know I usually like to give people the benefit of the doubt! I rang up around 9pm & ordered the pizza deal — one 16″ vegetarian pizza with a free 12″ pizza, large chips, a cheeseburger and a bottle of Diet Coke. The guy on the other end of the phone mumbled, was rude and hung up on me without telling me how much, when the food would arrive or where. He didn’t confirm what was on the order, & when I asked whether I could get student discount he snapped that we’d already got a discount on the pizza — fair enough, but I’d like to be told without the attitude! Still, I thought, they’re probably busy and stressed. It’ll be fine, and they’re good value… The food arrived on time — they give a max wait time of 30 minutes, and we waited around 25 — & the driver gave me a call to collect it. He was friendly, but the company hadn’t given him a note saying how much it would cost & they couldn’t tell him over the phone. I’d worked out that the total was £13.30, but what if I hadn’t? The food was hot & smelt good, but it was really greasy & sub-par. The chips were soggy, the meat pizza was awful(looked bad, base was burnt & too spongy, bland, clearly not made to order), the cheeseburger was just OK(not nice, but edible). The vegetarian pizza was fine — it was huge and did taste good, the base was just crispy enough and it was warm all through. Everybody ended up eating the vegetarian pizza, since it was so much better — but about half of the total order went untouched. About a week later I went past The Nile and realised I probably should’ve checked the place out before I ordered from it. I really can’t understand why The Nile gets such good reviews. Yes, it’s really cheap — we got two huge pizzas and trimmings for the same price as smaller deals from other places — but after it all we just felt ripped off and greasy. Next time we’ll get Domino’s — I picked up about 10 free pizza vouchers for them a day after we ordered from here…

Another firm favourite with students, scholars and locals is The Nile. Situated amidst a string of fast food joints on Smithdown Road, it’s a neighbourhood take-away that has a couple of plastic tables and chairs where you can sit and wait whilst your nosh is being cooked. As you’d expect, they sell good quality kebabs, burgers and chips. Their signature dishes however, are the lamb chops and roasted chicken. Beautifully spiced and cooked in a clay oven, they taste deeeeelicious. Prices are reasonable to begin with but students can enjoy a healthy discount if they show their NUS cards.

An Egyptian takeaway is not something you see too often but The Nile does the nation proud and is one of my firm favourites amongst the menagerie of food stores along the Smithdown road. I’m not entirely sure what is so different about clay oven kebabs but one thing is for certain you can taste the high quality. I have ventured into this place on many a drunken night and have always found it to be excellent value and excellent taste on the whole. This place is different to your standard takeaway and even serves roast chicken and the best word to describe that particular taste is succulent, I cannot describe what a treat it was to get roast chicken as opposed to your standard takeaway fare. This place is really refreshing and does the job whatever your needs, with excellent staff and great value The Nile is one of the best places to visit in Smithdown.

Brilliant takeaway. You know you are on to winner when you can eat a kebab, enjoy it and not feel dirty for doing so before 10pm at night! Most of the food here is cooked in atraditional clay oven style which means that it’s not quite as fast as your usual fast food outlet but if you get the chops by God you’ll be glad you waited. Chops? In a takeaway? Yup, regular chops, cooked so the meat just falls of the bone and with a slightly spicy sauce — can’t beat it.

As far as takeaways go, this baby gets five whole stars. So, it takes them a little longer to prepare your food, but thats because in the end, it tastes so much better, so please, I implore you, before you stagger into Hot n Tender, walk those extra 10 paces to The Nile ‘finest Egyptian takeaway’. A promised land of clay-oven kebabs; tender, succulent chicken and hot, hot sauce and the rest, all for good prices with student discounts. The staff are always friendly and up for a laugh, you will not regret waiting those extra 10 minutes. I promise.
