Amazing location, fantastic building. For tourists however, probably not the traditional pub you are looking for inside. For non tourists, basically a wetherspoons. Good place to drink and watch the top of the city from. Food is average, scampi was obviously from frozen but tasted fine, chips and peas were cold as stone. The coronation chicken was decent and the sweet potato fries were ok. Pretty big menu featuring burritos, burgers and curries should cover something for everyone. Decent selection of ales. Overall disappointing in terms of potential from an amazing location, but a solid drinking /meeting location.

There’s nothing better than hitting an old English pub after a day of sightseeing. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I visited Lincoln — it has that historic feel of York. A typical looking pub inside and outside, we made our way to the second floor, eying up some pub grub. I personally feel that pub grub can vary in quality because of the affordability(sometimes lacks quality!). I decided to have the steak burger — you can’t go wrong with a burger, and being steak too, should be a winner. Pub portions are generous, and this was definitely the case! I really enjoyed my steak burger — it was juicy and meaty and the bun felt fresh. The chips were good too and at £5.95 for the dish, is an absolute bargain! I will definitely come again, if I’m ever in Lincoln again.

Great location — especially if you can sit outside in the summer. Beer and food both good standard chain pub fare. Reasonably priced.

Very disappointed in the quality of food. This pub is in a prime tourist location and so should offer superb service. Our waitress was very pleasant however other staff seemed pretty miserable. Very difficult to access with a pram due to the multiple levels. Would only recommend as a pub to have a drink in sit outside on a nice day and watch the passers by.

This pub is typical of the ‘Wetherspoons’ style brand. The staff are miserable and poorly presented, the glasses are dirty and the food is clearly microwaved. There is budget and then there is plain old cheapthis one falls in to the later category. For a better experience visit the White Heart.

A good pub if you are doing the Lincoln sightseeing thing as it is next to the Castle and Cathedral. The walking ghost tours start opposite it and it is a great place for a warm, drink and loo when at the famous Christmas Market here. It has been here longer than I can remember and the second floor is a separate restaurant that opens from 19:00hrs until closing nightly and all day at weekends. There is emphasis on big value meals: beef stew and dumplings, vegetarian country pie, 8oz steak, and lots of Sunday roasts. When we went on the evening ghost tour once in December we needed a drink and a warm afterwards. We had a 10 year old with us. We formed a circle round him to hide him and bought him cokes but the staff knew and no-one said anything. A nice venue, good food and friendly atmosphere. Reasonable priced drinks.
