Started our pub crawl in Lewis at the Elly and finished there some hours later. Best pub of the day without doubt, big screen tv, good burgers great value for money. Next time I’m in Lewis ill be going back there.

Great pub with a fantastic atmosphere when watching sports and the food is exceptional for pub food. Definitely recommend the Elley Burgers as they are trademark. Home of Commercial Square Bonfire Society, this is clear to see from the interior. Head down and have a pint you will leave satisfied.

As already suggested this is a busy bar on sports events and can get crowded. I like the previous reviewer’s description of crowd surfing! I find it useful to pre-​order my drinks. especially when I know how long the event is. Mind you .on a Test Match day that can be a pretty full table!
Great staff and good fun pub. Grub’s good as well.

Large and popular pub with sports TV, located north of the town centre, below the castle.
The building was built in 1838, but the interior has a modern feel, with wooden floors, and a mix of big wooden furniture, sofas and armchairs. There’s a large bar area at the front and similarly large room with pool table off this, and a smaller third room at the rear of the bar. There’s a small outdoor patio area at the rear and a function room for hire upstairs.
They serve Harvey’s Sussex Best Bitter and Timothy Taylor Landlord, and at least one guest beer, and traditional real cider. They serve good pub grub: soup, a range of starters (£2.50-£3) sandwiches, filled baguettes, jacket potatoes, and around half a dozen mains with a veggie choice, for around £7.
Despite being so large, the pub does get very busy, especially for major sports events. The clientele consists mainly of genial generally twenty-​somethings.

This pub has a great atmosphere. The drinks are reasonable. Its a great place to go if there is sport on, although you may have to crowd surf to get to the bar because it gets ridiculously busy if it is an important match.
Its a fairly quiet place to chill out if there isn’t any sport going on. The staff are fun and friendly.
