Me and my boys are big fans. Never been until today when my eldest had an abundance of cash to splash on his favourite items — games for his Xbox 360! The shop was well organised and man was it busy(Good Friday & Sunny and it seemed everyone was out in Leeds today) but didn’t feel too jostled so all good there, especially when you’re desperately trying to keep an eye on a little 5 year old. My 5 year old and I decided to ponder over the Skylander and there was an offer on today on the Giants — buy 3 get the cheapest free so we did just that — so spent £30 here. Found my 12 year old quizzing the salesman on the best games and release dates and was pleased to see this discussion and exchange of views interesting. Good to see someone taking an interest in such a youngy, they are our future(and possibly because they have more disposable income than us oldies!). Older son treated himself to Most Wanted(and thankfully talked out of Grand Theft Auto which is an 18). I duly thanked the salesman! Nearly bought the pre owned @ £19.99 which meant buying an online code for £6.99 but when we got to pay for the item, the salesman told us we could have it brand new for £20 as it was on offer HALFPRICE! Yes! Bargains all round &2 happy boys! Upon leaving I bleeped so that was the only downside — the security tags hadn’t been removed from the Skylanders. Nevermind, all ended well and all 3 of us left the store happy. My 2 remarked that this was the happiest day of their lives. Happy ever after!

Game in my eyes is the more expensive alternative to Gamestation. Selling more or less the same thing, consoles both portable and stationary, from the DS, Playstation, PSP, Xbox, Wii, so on and so forth. There are the accessories that go with these fine items, balance boards, extra joypads, portable packs, hand kits, even rather cool t shirts if that’s at all your thing, I know it’s mine. Games prices really don’t undercut the market, and it appears that Game has some of the higher price tags than the internet and Gamestation. There is also a preowend games section, whereby most of the games look like they’ve been played once and completed and discarded with the utmost care in order to get on to the latest graphic offering. The last console I did purchase I did get it from Game, and that was only because I went up to Gamestation got the prices after snooping around Game, and then went back to Game, told them I was gonna buy the whole lot from Gamestation and they cut me a deal. So there is wiggle room if you’re willing. Aim for a manager type who looks like he or she is low on commission. :)

Game is sort of like haircut to me; it is essential in some ways, but a bit of an extravagance in others. I love going there and browsing all of the new games on sale and getting the odd opinion from their staff — the guys in there generally have pretty good knowledge about the stock. They sell all kinds of computer games including PC Games, DS, PSP, Playstation 3, Xbox and more. They generally stock all the newest releases and a wide selection of older games so you shouldn’t have a problem getting what you want — unless it is the release day when sensibly you should call and try to reserve the game! They also do pre-owned games for a reduced rate, which is cool. Although you don’t often get than much of a discount — between £5-£10 ish — it’s worth it since they won’t sell a second hand game that won’t play. They even have a selection of older games, such as PS2 games, which is great for geeks like me who want to collect all the Silent Hill games and so on! You won’t always find an awesome old game, but always worth a check! Sometimes the staff can be a little too ‘salesman’ for my liking, but generally they are friendly and fun. All good!

Completely agree with Wow. There is a right cocky manager in here too, who comments on your choice of games(ok, so once I had a bit of a Sims2 addiction, but I’m through it). I got completely put off coming here because he was dead snide about it when I went to hand over sixteen of my finest english pounds. It’s all money, so why be a tw*t about what’s being bought with it? Tsk. Meany bum.
