Wow — who’a thunk it? Fantastic seafood quality matched only by perfect preparation in the Linguine de mare. Olives, tapenade and homemade apple chutney gratis a nice touch. I was alone and Franco joined me for a few minutes — quite a nice chap. After 50 years in the business you know he’s here because he loves it. Taking a colleague back tonight.

Franco’s is owned by an Italian who is very clearly passionate about food. I remember Franco being part of the Leeds institution that was ‘The Flying Pizza’ Sure, it’s an odd kind of location but the quality of the food is excellent and that’s what counts for me. The house Gavi is the best I’ve tasted in the UK. The owner likes to walk from table to table to chat and confirm quality and make himself available. I wholly recommend if you prefer substance over style as opposed to style over substance.

The location for this restaurant was a little hard to find because it was in a business park. Everyone who worked there was very nice. I went with a big group of people so I think they got reservations first. The place seemed to be pretty crowded and also had large groups around. It was around dinner time so I guess that is when they get the busiest. Like I said we had a big group and they did pretty well at making sure we all had plenty of water at our tables. The food was very good also.

I love it here. It is a great family Italian full of personality staff and excellent food. It is in a strange place as it was built in a business park to service the offices and that means the atmosphere can be a bit odd. The calamari is great, the pizzas are excellent and the staff are always fantastic for me and family doing everything they can to interact with our little daughter. Don’t judge the book by the cover, go in the evening and enjoy good food.

I went on an evening so got a better experience than poor Tim :( No matter how well it is signposted this place is in a random location for a restaurant — the middle of a business park! Oh well its handy for where family live so wen ventured over as a group of 7. The table was great with enough room, dont like it when they squish you on a table cos you’re a big group. Everyone enjoyed there food but it wasn’t the greatest Italian we have had. Service was good and speedy. Think price is a little over priced and actually the more I think about from a review point of view the more I think I should really give it 2 stars. I’ll give it the benefit of doubt and change if it doesn’t give a better impression next time.

I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a place so devoid of atmosphere. Admittedly it was lunchtime and the place was almost empty. It may be that, situated as it is, on a business park, it is just a slightly glorified take out on a lunchtime and who knows, it might be throbbing with Italian authenticity on an evening. The problem is that, for me, it’s all about basics and the basics here(coffee, salads, service and hygiene) were all a bit lacking. The food was run of the mill, the coffee was further from Italy than Leeds and the staff seemed more interested in their soap opera lives than in gracing customers with a smile. Worst of all, there is no excuse for dirty tables when there are so few customers and 4 staff ‘working’
