what a great place to go for a coffee in Horsforth. The staff are really well trained and polite i love this place and use it on a daily basis. The only down side is its very busy sometimes in the mornings and lunchtime.

The first time I went to a costa coffee I got the goat cheese and tomato sandwich and the blended berry drink and I really loved both of them. The lady who was working there seemed a little rude to me, I am not sure if it was because I was American and was a little slow with the money exchange or because she was just in a bad mood. Either way she needed to work on her customer service skills. The second time I went I ordered a hot chocolate. It was alright in my opinion, it wasn’t all that. I can’t really say if it will always be bad or if it was just a bad day. I have just had better hot chocolates.

It’s Costa Coffee, so really, once you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all! The drinks are nice, I’m not really much of a coffee afficionado but friends of mine who know what they’re talking about when it comes to coffee tell me it’s pretty average, although they offer a fair trade coffee on the menu which is always going to earn brownie points from me. I’m more of a hot chocolate girl, and I must say they do pretty well in that department. I especially love having shots of flavoured syrup in my hot beverage to make it a bit different, and there’s always plenty to choose from. My most recent visit was over the Christmas period and they had a lovely array of festive flavours on offer, I had a black forest flavour hot choc and it was very scrummy. The food on offer is pretty nice too if you fancy a treat, although if you’re watching your waistline or your wallet(which I am on both counts) then you might want to go elsewhere. Speaking of wallets, it seems to be pretty much on a par with other chain coffee outlets in respect of prices, which in my opinion means it’s really expensive! I’ve never really understood how you can quite justify charging as much for a cup of coffee but there you are, it would seem that I’m in the minority and there are plenty of people prepared to pay the best part of a fiver for a coffee and a biscuit. This particular branch has free WiFi so you can surf as you slurp and a nice outside seating area when you can sit and watch the bustle of New Road Side go by on a nice day. There’s a toilet with disabled access, the branch is always clean and tidy and the staff are friendly. So if you’re hanging around in Horsforth and need a coffee stop, Costa could well do it for you. Although as a fan of the indie, I’d probably say check out Pooky & Grumps over the road first!

Yes I have to say that this branch is as good as any. Excellent coffee as always and in a very handy position. I really do think that Costa beats Starbucks and any other I have ever tried — keep up the good work!

I promised myself that I would review every place I visited and boy am I regretting that promise. What can I say about Costa, average place, indifferent service, coffee struggling to achieve average… Costa proudly claims to be Britain’s favourite coffee and I say, shame on you Britain, you haven’t lived.

Normally, say we were talking Leeds city centre circumstances, Costa would get my vote over the hoards of other coffee shops they have on offer. However, when it comes to costa versus the indie stores, I just couldn’t welcome your choosing this place over them. The ‘them’ in this instance is of course, Pooky and Grumps, a fantastic little deli café. Costa is great for a range of coffees, flavoured, strong, weak, milky or not. They are competitive in their prices compared to the bigger brands, and you will always get more coffee for your money here than in a Starbucks or Neros. Their large coffee is pretty much a soup bowl full! They offer a number of fairly tasty snacks too, some lovely muffins and such, but their panini just isn’t really going to cut it here. The panini itself is fairly measly, and whilst it may be slightly less expensive than over the road, you get far less in this case for your money. This particular branch does however have an extensive outside seating area, covered nicely with one of those nice material roofing fold outs, which gives it a very continental feel — even if the air outside is practically baltic! All in all, Costa is my favourite of the bigger coffee chains, but when in Horsforth I’d go for indie 90% of the time.

Being a coffee lover, I’m a pretty big of Costa Coffee and love visiting mid morning for a Mocha to drink outside and watch the passers by. This particular Costa is fairly small and does get busy, but theres usually a place to sit. Theres also a few tables outside if you prefer to drink al fresco. They do a nice range of both sandwiches and paninis along with the usual coffee shop treats; muffins, cakes, flapjacks… Costa offers Fairtrade certified coffee, Decaffeinated coffee and a choice of skimmed or soya milk so there’s plenty of options to pick from. The staff are always really helpful and efficient and the manager is always happy to have a chat. It’s the sort of place that feels almost homely. Definitely somewhere I like to frequent!
