To be kind it was really very ordinary food considering it’s £15 per plate. On that serving I would never come back to eat. 6 plates of food, four of which I wouldn’t have given to my dog. To be fair though, the roast pork which my mother-​in-​law had was apparently very good and one of the fish meals was good. The beer and wine tasted ok.

Visited recently on a Friday night for a 40th birthday. Pub has nice décor and lovely beer garden and decent enough sized car park. Bar staff were quite hit and miss with most of them unable to provide a decent customer service or even crack a smile when serving customers.
The food was also hit and miss with the cocktail sausages being sweet beyond ridiculous and the onion rings weren’t even cooked right through. Fries were somehow sweet too which led us to believe they’d been fried with the sweet cocktail sausages.
The bar staff don’t have much of a clue about different wines and the choice was poor and price quite expensive for what they actually had.
Would only visit again if I had to, i.e. a friends’ birthday or event but wouldn’t go there just for an evening out at the weekend.

I live local and was very happy when they gave this pub a fantastic make over. It is beautiful on the inside with an elegant, spacious dining room and lovely outside seating area. but boy are we paying for it!!! drinks are very expensive, to say after all it is only a PUB!!! Lets put it this way you wouldnt walk out of here drunk unless you had a job as a banker.

Uninventive menu for a gastropub. But the presentation and quality of their offerings were decent. On the day I went. They offered a wine tasting class. Nice.
The mushroom crumble which came to our table by mistake was yummy accident. Sorry table 3!
Their butternut squash soup needed a bit more kick for my tastes but wonderfully hearty as you can tell it was a fresh purée.
My gf really enjoyed their vegetarian Risotto and her bf only had high praise for their food as he is a regular there.
Not bad for the area.

I was staying one night at the attached hotel. Diner and breakfast were excellent. For us continentals the english kitchen is usually a little bit suspicious and I made already some strange experiences in London concerning UK food. But here the Barbecue Plate was delicious. Tasting different than in Germany or US but I strongly recommend it!
In the morning I ordered a traditional english breakfast that I can also recommend! I already know what belongs hereto and I like to experience this every time. Especially with the english sausage, we Germans got our own very different opinion. But this sausage and the black pudding (do you put sugar in it???) were also excellent.
Of course, I also recommend a stay overnight at the hotel.

This is a nice little pub, which I found when going to see a friend’s band play a gig. There is a nice little beer garden, they serve Youngs Ale (including Winter Warmer at the time of writing) and it’s free entry on music nights.
I’ve been on Saturdays to some of the rock music nights, and have seen some outstanding concerts there.
I understand that there are also jazz nights on Mondays.
Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
