I love the bistro, but think I should have a loyalty card, as I eat there so often with friends! I always know that I will have fresh well cooked food, well presented and tasty. Usually a good atmosphere, and great view of the waterfront. I like the set menu which offers value for money. It’s my favourite restaurant for sure. Staff are always smart and friendly, a nice change from some places where staff look scruffy or are offhand.

This establishment is part of Ipswich’s «Waterfront Regeneration area» — a section of the historic docks(now the new marina) — and is housed in a former salt warehouse. It has been nicely converted, with large picture windows looking out onto the water, and the tables are well spaced. Prices are good, and the menu specialises in «fresh local produce» which is convincingly prepared and presented. Service has always been good and non-intrusive.

Great location on Ipswich Waterfront — the views across the marina is lovely. Good is excellent. Plenty of choices including fish, meat, vegetarian dishes, good service and prices are not too dear. Great location and I would highly recommend.

A better view you are not going to get in Ipswich, overlooking the Ipswich Marina. There are no roads running between the docks and the entrance so it is really quite. The food is good and the set menus are really good value for money at £15,95 for a three course meal. A friend of mine hired the upstairs dinning room for her hen night that can accommodate about 30 people and it was lovely. We had a nice intimate meal upstairs with no other dinners around whilst overlooking the marina. Oh I can highly recommend the White chocolate crème burlee.

Great location — on the dock road, which is extremely quiet — and has a lovely view of Ipswich marina. The Bistro is an old, tastefull converted dock building that was one of the first in the renovation of the Ipswich dock area. The food is modern british with continental overtones. There is plenty of choice of both fish, meat and veggie dishes so there should be something to please most palettes. There is also an extensive wine list. My wife has a particular liking for their pint of shell-on prawns served with garlic mayo and thick, crusty brown bread — as a starter. The prices are not too expensive, but the food is very good and I think it represents good value. A word of warning — the one downside of the Bistro is that you have to book well in advance. This is even more true in summer when the yachties tend to be in town. Overall very nice place, good food — can be very romantic(if you are that way inclined) especially if you can get a sunset booking in summer.
