Although the property I found through Harringtons was nice, it has been beset with problems which they have done little to nothing to solve. Firstly, they put the moving in back by a day so that the apartment could be cleaned(fair enough), but when I moved in the property had obviously not been cleaned at all and was in a thoroughly filthy state. When I approached them about this they informed me that they had had complaints about the cleaning company and so had told them that they would stop using their services, so they had obviously not cleaned any properties after being told of this(of which mine was one). Fair enough I thought, so I cleaned the flat myself(which took a week of deep-cleaning) free of charge. Then the freezer broke on December the 6th, and despite weekly phonecalls to Harringtons and their building maintenance company, M.G. Mitchell, the freezer was not replaced until March. When I moved in I noticed that the roof was leaking and the flat had damp problems(peeling wallpaper and stains on walls etc.). When I raised this with the other flat owners(all who own their flats, I am the only renter in the building) they said that they would repair the roof, and split the cost between all of them and my landlord equally. I asked Harringtons to contact the landlord, which they ignored. It was only when one of the other flat’s owners contacted the landlord independently that the arrangements could be made to repair the roof. When I moved in, there was a wardrobe left in the flat(I presumed by the previous tenants) I phoned up Harringtons and asked if I could remove it, they replied that any propery left by the previous tenants could be removed, so I dismantled the wardrobe and put it out in the road for anyone who wanted it to come and pick it up. Now that I’m moving out, they have claimed that the wardrobe was a part of the(unfurnished) property, and that they will be taking the cost of a new wardrobe out of my deposit. All in all, I am very disappointed with the level of customer service from this company. They are quite plainly only out for the money that they receive every month, and after they have let you a property they want little or nothing to do with you.
