Came here tonight while on a trip to Hertford. The local, sustainable ideology really excited me, and I’m glad I came. I had the steak fries, and the steak, served medium rare was cooked to perfection. I chose a mushroom, rosemary, and panchetta sauce accompaniment that complemented the dish beautifully, and the fries were skinny(yes!), crisp, and salty. The food wasn’t anything life changing, but I really liked the romantic, relaxed dinner vibe, and the friendly service. Simple food done well. Overall, a solid meal, and I would happily return to taste their other offerings!

Brasserie style restaurant, slap bang in the middle of Hertford town. Part of a small chain — they have others in Bishops Stortford and St Albans. Its fundamentally a fish and grill restaurant, food locally and /or sustainably sourced etc. I eat here quite regularly and the service is always exceptional — puts some bigger London retaurants to shame.

Had a lovely dinner with family. Only a couple of downers. I ordered a bitter and got a pilsner and the special salad sounded wonderful but was a strange mix that didn’t really work to my mind. Mains were lemon sole, fish cake(yes singular. It’s the largest I’ve had and very nice), and cog au vin. All were good. We even had desserts; crème brûlée, chocolate cheesecake; all perfect
