Farmers Boy

Discovered this pub in the middle of the countryside. It’s ok and I was fascinated by the warmly environment I found, though a chimney was somewhat expected.
Food was good and freshly prepared, but not all of it. We did go for a soup of the day, pea soup, delicious, then a mani.
We took a home pie (moroccan style) — very nice, a beef burger with stilton and bacon, and rib eye steak.
As a side order we got chips and onion rings, which we have been told they were home made too.
I was sincerely disappointed from the steak, a 10oz rib eye that we paid as a matured one but that wasn’t matured at all. Idem for the onion rings, which clearly were the McCain ones. The olive bred served with the soup was frozen too.
The apple crumble was fine, but with a purchased custard. The service a bit too slow although there were not so many people in.
In essence I would probably return, but I will expect the personnel to be more sincere on what is home made and what it is not.

Good value, quality and service.
A nice place to go for lunch, or to stop at on a cycle ride /​walk.
