Been there few months ago, but I apparently forgot to leave my usual review. The place is not bad, though the table disposition inside was leaving very little space to eat comfortably so we decided to move out. The second room has a window on the kitchen which makes me comfortable because you can see how the stuff is prepared. The menu was OK at the time we had our meal, but ultimately a bit overpriced. I didn’t like the fact my credit card was taken into the till until we paid. Being there with a family I should have been kind of a reassurance I wouldn’t fly away.

From the outside this restaurant looks deceptively down-market. Inside there is a pleasant ambience and the menu does have a variety of dishes besides fish. I tried the ‘today’s special’ menu and opted for roasted duck’s legs, mashed potato, celeriac and plum sauce. It was absolutely delicious and aesthetically arranged with chives on a square white plate. My partner had the three fish special which she enjoyed equally. To round it off we shared some lumpy-bumpy chocolate cake with cream which was exquisite, not so much a cake, more a melt –in-your-mouth experience — one of the best desserts i’ve had. The only downside was the ‘Pinot Grigot’ wine which tasted more like a dry house white. Other than that a most enjoyable meal in a comfortable space in the heart of Hastings old town.
