It’s Saturday night and no olives on the menu. Criminal. Arrived before 5:30 on a Saturday and were left 45 minutes before taking an order. Criminal. The children’s meals came first and we waited over 30 minutes for our adult meals. We even had to ask where they were. Criminal. Ordered the special monkfish and prawn Thai curry. Hardly any monkfish. Criminal. I’m afraid we won’t be going back soon.

Went here after a swim in Guildfrd pool/complex. Not badfood pretty good. The building’s quite impresssivr. Both my wife and I like fish but not when you have to wait for it for so long. but since we weren’t in a hurry it didn’t matter that much. Hence only 3 stars from us

This branch looks small from the entrance but is Tardis-like! It’s a renovated mill with a small bar at the front on the right & stairs leading up to the main seating area. There are plenty of original exposed beams & the roof is high above with a further open stair up to the toilets which are effectively suspended boxes. This is quite a spectacular place! took my girlfriend there about 3yrs ago on her birthday one lunchtime where we went for the cheaper set menu. I’ve not been too keen on mackerel for many years but decided to try it for my main course & really enjoyed it! My girlfriend enjoyed her meal as well. We returned about a year ago one evening & again enjoyed our fish. We found the staff to be friendly & helpful.

Nice food, nice flavours, shame about the portion size and cost! The dining area is nicely laid out, with lots of tables for different size groups. The dining area has got character with its rustic looking beams, but this is lost because of the complete lack of atmosphere. The service was ok, young staff who like to chat among themselves rather wait tables(and it wasn’t even busy). The menu is small and simple, with all but a few dishes containing sea food. I know that sounds silly considering it’s a sea food restaurant, but if you’re eating with someone who doesn’t like fish or is a veggie then you’re in trouble! The ingredients of the dishes are a puzzler as well, why would you transport Sea Bass from Anglesey to Surrey when you can source it a lot closer. The food itself was very nice, seasoned well and you could see the presentation was thought about, shame they didn’t think about it for longer! The main choker was the bill, and it’s what’s going to keep me out of the Loch Fyne for the foreseeable future. P.s be carefully of the Special Offers, they put on a limited menu, which isn’t explained in the advert. If you want to save money on your meal register on the Loch Fyne website and save £10;

Good setting and impressive menu, but let down very badly by the terrible service. Staff rush around frenetically(and there are plenty of waiting staff)…but things take an age to arrive. Is the kitchen letting them down? Hardly, they struggled to bring an extra bottle of water inside 20 minutes. The manager is at fault here, because there doesn’t seem to be any proper system in place. A pity, because I really wanted to like this place and know that Loch Fyne do a good job elsewhere — but the Guildford branch needs an overhaul.
