A small but perfectly formed brewery with a great tour and tasting experience. The staff are enthusiastic and demonstrate a real passion for what they’re doing. The bourbon barrel ale is what brought us here, as my husband is a massive bourbon fan, but the other beers were just as good. Definitely worth a visit!

Eden Mill(as it is now known) is a «Grass roots» Brewery and Distillery located just outside the centre of St. Andrews. Eden Mill brew various artisan beers and also distill Gin and… have recently started to distill Single Malt Scotch in Quarter Casks. The brewery tour and tasting was done with a real zeal, passion and enthusiasm. Visiting Eden Mill is akin to stepping in the TARDIS as one is left wondering just how they cram so much in. I tasted quite a selection of beers all of which were fresh, original and so well balanced. There was no «alcohol Slam» either, just great taste. I also tasted their Gin, not just Gin mind you, but… Hop Gin, that’s Gin with hops that have rested in the Gin, giving it quite a dry taste(making a jolly good Gin Martini to boot!). They’ve just started doing Oak aged Gin too. Be sure to arrange for a designated driver when visiting as they’re more than generous with the Samples. Great people making great drinks on a(very) small batch scale. Mail order available by their website. 10⁄10

Eden Brewery is only 18 months old but is already making a splash and I’ve lived sampling some of their innovative craft beers. When we saw a groupon for their brewery tour and realised that the brewery is only a 15 minute walk from Leuchars, we thought it would make a great day trip. Indeed it did! The brewery has a humble abode in an industrial area next to Eden River. The buildings are now owned by St Andrews University but I liked that the tour emphasised how the brewery was proud that there had been a long history of both brewing and distilling on that site, starting in the 1800s. The staff(and there are ku seven full-timers who have a massive output of work!) are all extremely passionate about brewing, and since they are so proud of the brewing AND distilling history on the site they are keen to experiment with innovative beer aged in ex-whisky barrels. I enjoyed the tour in learning about how beer is made, the history of Eden Brewery, and seeing its modest home. I was astounded, for instance, that all of their bottles of beer are coming through a bottling machine that only bottles two at a time, and that bottle caps are all done by hand! We also got to both see and try our hand at labelling the bottles of beer, which was quite fun. Although I was already a fan of the Eden Brewery beers, the tour made me appreciate much more how they are so small and innovative. I realised how much work goes into each bottle, not only brewing but in bottling and labelling for instance! The offered us tastings of a total of seven beers, which was extremely generous for the price we paid and also extremely effective because I liked every one! My favourites were the Rum Cask, bourbon cask, Clock brew, and Seggi porter(named I think after the nearby Seggi farm where the happy cows and pigs receive compost from the brewery to eat!). Overall they have so many interesting and delicious beers that I’d say you can’t go wrong though! Lastly, I’d say that I was really keen to join their Beer Club when I learned about it. For £20(reduced from £30 if you’ve been on the tour) you receive a t-shirt, free bottle of beer, beer glass of your choice, carrier bag, future discounts and(best of all!) getting to come along three times a year to sample and name their newest beers while voting on the best! I’m so excited to be a new Beer Club member and to come back for more tastings!

Already a big fan of their beers I was excited to see a voucher for a brewery tour. The tour was fun and very informative about not only the beer and their brewing process but also the history of the site and the entire process from deciding what to brew to bottling on site and labelling. Lots of limited edition beers only available to buy on site, definitely well worth a visit!
