We hung out in the bar area waiting for our room at St. Andrews Old Course Hotel. The seating was very much like a living room with a large bar. The excellent club sandwich was made with flat bread so it was manageable to eat and not overly filling. They were kind enough to split The fish and chips since we were sharing, needing just a bit of food during our room wait. Looking forward to the dining room another night.

Best place for cocktails in St. Andrews! Fantastic views of the sea and the famed Old Course and fantastic staff. They make a variety of classic and original cocktails and have an encyclopedic whiskey list as well. Despite the upscale environment, I’ve never seen the staff be snooty to anyone. They are friendly and welcoming.
Yes, it is expensive, but less so than one would thing (around £10 for a cocktail — standard for an upscale place).
