Being a fan of specialty chocolates, coffee shops, museums, and seeing how chocolate is made I thought this a good stop along our trip around Scotland. It’s a bit like an American Kountry Kitchen filled with Kitsch is housing the exploding chocolate ego of this particular chocolatier. The«museum» is one little pass-thru, really just a few glass cases showing off some stuff and a video. Their chocolate production was closed the day we went, but it’s also simply a chocolate shop kitchen with a window to view it by. They have two rooms dedicated to Kountry Kitsch — a random assortment that has nothing to do with chocolate. The chocolate shop, which is located past the«museum» and the main Kountry Kitsch room, has a nice display and an assortment of different chocolates, however, they are priced incredibly high. I completely understand the need to price specialty chocolates at a higher rate than you would find in an everyday store BUT these prices were so extremely high none of the several groups of people meandering about bought any, including us. The coffee shop portion is the only slight saving grace to this place. We loved the great big table in the middle and the server was quite friendly… but again, what’s with the Kountry Kitsch? If you want to try any of Mr. Scottish Chocolate’s chocolate, get a little truffle with your coffee — it’s about the only way you can afford it.
