Met the boyfriend during his lunch break, and because I’m eating for health reasons and not because things are yummy, I’m limited to where I can eat. Subway was scraping the bottom of the barrel for me as I knew I was only going to be able to get a «salad» which is basically sandwich toppings without any dressing. Don’t get me wrong, they give you a lot more toppings then they would on a sub any day, its just hard to choke down a salad without dressing. No dressing on a salad you might ask? Well, basically, as I noticed a few other salads being made, their salads are basically their sandwich toppings dumped in a bowl then drenched in their sauces. I was pretty shocked when they didn’t have actual salad dressings like Italian, rather their chipotle sauce and ranch, both of which I can’t have let me just say, with as much sauce that goes on the salad, people may as well just eat the bread! My boyfriend, always quite pleased with his subs, got an Italian sub with all the toppings… minus tomatoes as to him, they just take up room, haha! Anyway. I never finished my bowl of toppings sans dressing as we were off in a jiffy up the road, but I’ll probably suggest anywhere else for a salad. Subway should just stick to what they do best.

This at 13:30pm on a Monday is a very busy place. Full of school kids and adults on a break from work. It looks a clean place, and busy location. This diet is hard when I can smell the food:(

I am almost ashamed to admit that I frequent this Subway so often. It is open late, and is just opposite my bus stop. My carefully opting for the sub of the day, I get a cheap snack, convincing myself that it is healthier than a burger. Despite being busy, this one has good service. It always has plenty of staff, who work as a solid production line. Of course, it gets a bit hairy at times– but that is more to do with the activity that I can see through the large windows than anything in the store! In fact, it is a little late night neon retreat.

I love that a sandwich shop has its very own security guard, however in this location it’s probably quite necessary. Right in the middle of Sauchiehall Street, it’s a firm favourite for post pub and club grub, whether you’re after a wee 6 inch tuna salad, or a massive meatball foot-long that packs more of a punch than any kebab. I do like Subway and their warm variety of bread and tasty fillings, however I can’t help but feel a bit cheated as they’re masquerading as a healthy sandwich shop, when their stuff isn’t actually all that good for you, packed with salt and suchlike. However as post-drink-dining goes, you could do a lot worse.

I know it’s unhealthy and some might say disgusting but I love a good Subway once every so often. This one is in a prime location with a few seats where you can watch the often hilarious movements of those on Sauchiehall Street. To be honest, the location’s beauty is the fact that it’s super handy for lots of Glasgow’s clubs and, being open late, you can crawl in here to satisfy that post-drink hankering. Always good fun — I have had some interesting conversations with folk in the queue at this time of night. I can’t tell you which sub is best as I am a creature of habit — always, always have chicken, with cheese, on hearty italian bread with lettuce, onions and peppers & a dab of mayo. Yums.

I’m quite boring at Subway, I always order the exact same thing done the exact same way: Steak and Cheese Hearty Italian bread(toasted) jalapenos, onion, lettuce hot chilli sauce It contains all the vital nutrients, probably, and it’s absolutely brilliant.

if you’ve eaten at subway before, you know exactly what you’re in for — it’s just another one of their cookie cutter stores. this one, however, is open till 4am most nights, and has a tendancy to be full of drunken louts waxing lyrical about the joys of meatbaw subs… better than chips, cheese and mayonnaise — but only just! it’s not the worst idea in the world to stumble in here after a night at the abc, but it’s not the best either!

This shop is fine as far as sandwich shops go. It is always busy as it is slap bang in the middle of student land. However, it can be a bit of a battle ground on weekend nights as it opens to around 4am and all the drunks are looking for something to eat. It is quite cheap to eat here, especially if you get a meal deal flyer offering 2 for 1 etc. All the sandwiches are made in front of you so you can customise your sandwich to what you want. There is a fair variety of hot and cold fillings and you can choose to have the sandwich toasted if you want this. They also sell drinks, cookies and crisps to make it into more of a meal instead of a sandwich. You can have a footlong sub if you so wish, this is too much for me however.
