Out of all the Cancer research shops around this was the one I used to favourite all the time by donating quite a lot of quality items over the years. When the gift aid card came out i signed up straight away and probably around a month after that was when I started having issues with the charity cold calling me to see if I could donate a cash some every month above what I was already donating, even though I said no to this I was still phoned up on a regular basis. The only way that the charity could have got hold of my details was through the gift aid forms. When I was donating items to this shop, the bags would be usually grabbed of me in not a nice way as if I was putting them out of their way, in all the years of donating items to this particular shop I was never thanked for donating items to them. Not long ago I returned my gift aid card back to them and explained that I would not be donating anymore to this store, there are more worthy charity’s than cancer research.

There are two kinds of people: those that like the rails full to capacity, perfect for a rummage, and those that just plain don’t. I’m in the former camp but, I get it, there’s nothing worse than rails that are uncomfortably full which make it frustrating to shop. When it comes to charity shopping, there needs to a balance and, whilst Cancer Research had their rails on the full side, it just prompted a gleeful ‘Oooooh, so much to see!’ response from me. — Full but not TOO full! There’s some really pretty things in here. Just one minute in and I’d my eye on a baby blue sleeveless button-up Monsoon top. Pricing’s very reasonable too. This isn’t near too many other charity shops, so you can’t quite make a day of if without venturing out to the west end. But this is well worth popping in to on your way over.

I think this is an ok charity shop. Not the best. I have always come here along with another charity shop not far and another that sadly closed. They just need to sell things cheaper. Some of the things are almost the same as a new price. It’s best to sell things cheaper as you get free stock.

I love a good charity shop. There’s something that makes you feel good about getting something you want(or didn’t know you wanted until you saw it) rather than all of this stuff going in a skip. The clothes seemed ok; but for the guys it has a more extensive selection of men’s clothes. This is a first for me. At any rate, I ventured in because of the books. From outside, I saw a bookshelf filled up and thought, ‘A-ha!‘ Inside, the books were separated by genre and alphabetised which is one of the better organisational systems in a charity shop than I’ve seen in recent past. Most of them have a turning book rack, and it’s a free-for-all-dig-fest. Also, much to my delight, a DVD collection. DVD’s marked at about £3 each and not just your average work-out videos and kids shows. Yes, they did have those, but they also had some more popular hits as well. And on the shelf below that, you’ll find some vinyl and CD’s. Nice selection for such a small shop, and well organised as well.

This is one of the best charity shops in the city centre, with a great selection of clothing, arranged my size and colour, which makes browsing and buying a little easier. On a recent trip here, I even managed to pick up a uni textbook for just £2, from their massive selection of books that are piled high on the floor. The ladies that work here are always very cheerful and friendly, which makes this a lovely little place to shop, to pick up some bargains and give to a good cause.

Situated in the centre of town, this Charity shop balances between the old school charm of the under-priced jumble sale and the modern, clean, hipper stores that target the vintage fans. It is, rarely, well laid out without trying to be pretentious and hip: it still has the sweet shop-keepers who enjoy their work, without descending into the mayhem of the southside charity shops. Another one which I use to pick up random books when I fancy a solitary coffee and read after some intense shopping, and worth a quick check if you are in the area, even just to gain perspective on the high street prices

This is a really big charity shop with a wide variety of items on offer. The usual tat that you find in charity shops(here I’m talking Granny vases and glass ornaments) is relegated to a small shelf unit at the back — which does a world of good to the rest of the shop! As well as a HUGE selection of books(I’m talking a whole wall length bookshelf here — and it’s a very long wall) you’ll also find cards, clothes, shoes and new homeware items. Plus, I’ve saved the rest till last, vinyl records! There is quite a selection of records, and they’re all priced at just £1. Yes, there is quite a lot of the Julio Iglesias and Chris de Burgh type, but there are also some real gems in there so it’s definitely worth a rummage. Unlike most charity shops, the Cancer Research UK Shop on Sauchiehall Street is very spacious and well set out. You won’t have to do any squeezing through stock here.
