Yes, I know it’s a Starbucks and therefore I should treat this place with contempt BUT I can’t. The coffee is what you’d expect from any Starbucks, that won’t change, but I feel the staff are all the difference and hence the 5 star review. This store is a gem. Not as busy as Sauchiehall St and Buchanan St(most of the time) the staff seem more relaxed, less stressed because of this. They are friendly, attentive and can put a smile on my face at 8 in the morning. This store is close to my work so I can be in there anywhere from 1 – 5 times a week, so when I pop in and they ask if I’d like my ‘usual’ I know I’ve found great customer service.

Starbucks used to be a place that I often looked forward heading to, sometimes heading to my local one twice a day. With this particular store l very rarely come in unless it was suggested to meet up with others here. There are a few things that I don’t like about this place, maybe it’s uncomfortable seating, or the dwarf tables that could only be used as s foot stool. The staff can be chatty & welcoming, but one sip of the filter coffee would put you off coffee for life.

The finest of the city centre Starbucks branches, in my humble opinion. The staff seem to be a little less rushed, a touch friendlier and a damn sight more cherry than those a few hundred feet away on the much, much bugger and busier Buchanan Street branch. There’s fewer seats than Buchanan Street, no outdoor area, and the toilets are downstairs and locked(remember to ask for the code before you go all the way down!) but despite those seeming quibbles, it’s a nicer experience than the other branches dotted around the town. It’s a lot more welcoming if you’re gonna stay a while — I usually while away a good hour here with a book or just spamming up Twitter when I have time to kill. Always a nice cup of coffee and a quick chat with the baristas in here, it’s always my choice if it’s that time of year. Y’know, that time when GINGERBREADRULESTHEWORLD. Sorry. I have a slight gingerbread latte addiction problem; this place is my dealer…

Starbucks is Starbucks. If you don’t know what to expect from a Starbucks, I assume you have lived under a rock all your life. However, since expanding my horizons in coffee consumption, I really have very little time for Starbucks and its insincerity. Sure, it’s still okay to grab a quick latte at the train station to avoid the muck Scotrail serves up but given the vast choice offered by Glasgow, I’m in no rush to the siren’s call. Anyway, this particular(just off Nelson Mandela Place) branch is okay. It’s one of the quieter stores if you fancy getting work done or reading your comics. I guess the upside to Starbucks is the bigger amount of floorspace for some privacy.

Out of the city centre Starbucks this is the choice of many. Not as busy as it’s Buchanan street sister store, which means you end up with a nicer fresher cup of coffee. This also seems to reflect in the staff, being slightly less rushed seems to mean they have better temperament and nicer general attitude. The place itself is nice clean and a little smaller that some of the other city centre branches. Wifi always seems to work and there is plenty of seating. Give it a go if you are looking to improve your Starbucks time in the city centre.

Gosh, Nicola, where do you get off posting reviews of Starbucks? We know already! Right?! Well, to be honest, I’ve been putting off reviewing this particular Starbucks establishment, but not for the reasons you’re thinking. You want to know why? It’s because… it’s because I like it so much. And I know this sounds cheesy, but… it’s my favourite Starbucks. And I kind-of-sort-of thought that it was Glasgow’s best kept secret. Wrong! For the first 6 months to 1 year of this Starbucks being open, it was heaven. There is plenty of seating, including comfy seats. You can sit by the window, enjoy ample sunlight, read your book and write and generally enjoy the world passing you by. Well, it seems that is no longer the case. The secret got out. Every time I’ve gone in here since I moved back to Glasgow in November, it has been absolutely packed to the rafters. Perhaps there are still quiet times to be found, but I have not yet been so lucky. So this 4-star review is cast out onto Unilocal in the hope that those quiet times still exist. And if not, well, the secret is truly out now. There is still plenty of seating, it’s still very tastefully decorated, and it’s still the cleanest and one of the newest Starbucks in Glasgow. Oh, and one of the baristas looks like he could be James McAvoy’s brother. Score.
