I cannot get excited for Starbucks. At all. I’m just not into it. This year was the first time I even tried a pumpkin spice latte, and I made sure to get it from somewhere other than Starbucks as I just rate SB so lowly. Anyway, I was meeting friends off the train and needed somewhere to sit for about 30 minutes — the other coffee shop at Queen Street is Costa and their seating area was full, whereas SB was nearly empty. So I grabbed a bottle of water and ordered a tea and took a seat. It’s a perfectly fine place to sit and get some work done. The seating area is partly in front of Bonapartes so it was a little weird to have people right on the other side of the window behind me. I let my tea steep for too long so ended up having to throw it out. The SB itself is small — they do seem to accept their membership card now(the person in front of me was using one) and service was friendly enough. Would I go here again? Hopefully not — I try to avoid SB as much as I possibly can, so this was definitely a needs must stop for me.

This is a train Starbucks and so has very little in ways of seating but I like it. Even when the queue is long, service is fast and kind. They almost always have a large variety of snacks when I travel. They do seem to have more technology breakdowns than the average location, but if you have cash or a Starbucks Card it won’t matter. Despite being a train station location not run by Starbucks(they’re a franchise), they participate in all Starbucks seasonal drinks and have made up some of their own on social days. They’re how I get through mornings when I wish I were still in bed but need to take a train instead.

This is pretty good for a train station Starbucks, it’s wee but it has a decent selection of products and the staff are friendly and on the ball and best of all when I ask for my latte extra hot that is exactly what I get which is nice :-) Even if there is a bit queue when you get there it goes down pretty quickly, they also have a few seats so you can wolf down your food if you have a few mins to kill before getting your train. It is a few pence more expensive than the Starbucks round the corner but hey that’s what you pay for convenience I suppose. I pop to this Starbucks every time I’m passing through queen street station and have had consistently good service every time. They also do a pretty good bacon buttie which I was pleasantly surprised by and would recommend you try it if you like that kind of thing.

for a train station Starbucks this place really sums up A-OK. it’s just a wee outlet in Queen Street Station but the only place you can get a decent cuppa. The problem is that there tends to be a line and only one barista working the till so usually a wait which isn’t ideal if you have a train to catch. generally the queue moves fairly quickly so it’s usually not a problem and i’m on my way with a cuppa for my train journey home. the baristas here are always friendly and the food selection looks pretty good, although i’ve never taken advantage of any of it. there is all the usual teas and coffees so it’s as well stocked as any other starbucks. there is also a tiny seating area if you have enough time for a seat before your train.

Possibly the worst Starbucks I have ever had the displeasure to use. Slow service, rude staff and they don’t except the Starbucks card. Any of the other coffee providers in the station would be better. This Starbucks can get very busy this is due to the name not the quality of their coffee or service. The latter being the most annoying. When you don’t want to break a large note and would like you freebies in your drink the last thing you want to hear when you go to pay is we don’t take those. Seriously they need to up their game in here.

This Starbucks concession stand recently popped up in Glasgow Queen Street station. Although it’s small, it tends to be pretty busy. It’s also well-staffed, and they get your drinks to you at hyper-speed. I definitely prefer it over the Costa stand a few units along, but each to their own! I do hope, however, that it doesn’t push out the longstanding AMT coffee stand, which is to be honest much better value for money. The only thing that bothers me about this particular Starbucks is that, since it’s a concession, they don’t take the Starbucks card. Unfortunately this means that even if you pay in cash you can’t get your syrups(vanilla, caramel, etc.) for free with the card. Oh well, c’est la vie! A good addition to the Queen Street station repertoire, serving that familiar Starbucks coffee that we all know and love… or love to hate. Can’t argue with that!

This tiny Starbucks(it’s a concession rather than a shop) is a new addition to Queen Street station, and unsurprisingly it seems to be doing well. However, it has fierce competition with the well-established AMT Coffee stand which commuters have remained loyal to. Perhaps it’s because people would rather not give their money to Starbucks over a much smaller company, or that AMT coffees are cheaper. Largely however, it goes on time– when commuters are running for their train, they just want their coffee made quickly. I would buy a coffee from this Starbucks, but only if the AMT queue seems too long.
