I went here with colleagues for lunch and it was great! The service was good and quick, portions very generous and excellent choice. At lunch during the week you can get 2 courses for £7.95 which is great value. I had the pork dumplings to start and sweet and sour chicken with fried rice for a main course. There is an option to add dessert for a couple of pounds extra but we were stuffed we couldn’t manage it! I would definitely go back. The décor is lovely too.

If you want real authentic Chinese food then this is the place to go!!! Inside the place is beautifully presented and busy with the staff scuttling about. When scouring the menu I have to be honest I wasn’t happy, it was Hong Kong all over again! I think I have just become so customised to «British» Chinese food that I struggle to find something I can really enjoy. The menu is for those of us who dare to be adventurous and I’m not going to lie, those more adventurous pieces of food are beautifully presented but still does not make me want to eat it. So on the menu we have things like sea snails, jelly fish, pigs intestine, pigs ear, preserved duck eggs, whole pieces of fish beautifully cooked; I think you get the gist of where I’m going with the menu. However, there is a menu at the back for those of us who like standard«British» Chinese meals with a decent selection but again, this is more of a restaurant for those of us who would like to try their hand at authentic Chinese food. And last but not least, the service time was extremely quick for the amount of people they had in so they either have a big kitchen or the food is already pre cooked so they can get the food out to their guests quicker. All in all, I wouldn’t go back here but I would recommend that you give it a shot if you’re in the area and looking for something different to try.

This review is probably just for Americans, because the price you pay after you do the £ to $ conversion is, IMHO, outrageous for what you get. I ordered a Sweet Corn and Crabmeat Soup, and my hubby, Mr. Cluck, had the same with chicken. The soup wasn’t as overpriced as the rest of the menu, but the menu should have said: «Warning: The crabmeat you are about to eat is the same crappy crab sticks, i.e., fake crab, that you can get in any supermarket. We didn’t fare much better with the main course that we shared — first, the portion was on the puny side; not the huge portion we were led to believe by other reviews on Unilocal. It’s similar to a dish that we order at home, but there were no vegetables. We asked if we could have broccoli added. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice that there was nothing spicy about this this dish, and it tasted only of chicken broth and salt. Rice was £2 extra, bringing the grand total for this delectable delight to nearly $ 21, an astounding price for a boring and tasteless dish. Oh, but the chicken was tender and the rice wasn’t overcooked:) Service was good. At least four different servers came over to take our order before we were ready. Some of them, though, were somewhat challenged in the English language. I’m writing this review before we even leave the restaurant; we’re licking our chops with anticipation for our ice cream cones at McDonald’s down the street. In summary: get the white rice; skip the rest.

We took a risk and walked in off the street as we were getting hungry and couldn’t be bothered walking very far! We definitely made the right choice. This was a very enjoyable meal that I’ve recommended to quite a few people since I’ve been! We ordered 2 main dishes, a rice, noodles and some spring rolls between the 3 of us and we had more than enough food. All of us were actually blown away with the portion sizes. I would definitely recommend ordering some mains to share instead of one each. Both dishes had plenty of sauce with amazing flavours — we had a crispy chilli chicken and it wasn’t too spicy at all, it was quite a sweet chilli with what tasted like quite a lot of honey in it which I love. Considering the portion sizes the price was very reasonable. Disclaimer: maybe we are all really small and can’t handle one each, if you’re ravenous then by all means ignore me and go for one to yourself! I know if my boyfriend was there he would of destroyed one by himself!

When can I go again!!! Seriously… thought the food at Sichuan House was amazing! I had been drooling over some of my Unilocaling friends’ Instagram updates on previous trips to Sichaun House, so was excited when I saw a UYE being planned and RSVPd immediately! I have to be honest I didn’t really take in much of my surroundings as I was just so excited for the food. We all had the Banquet at £30 per head — a little pricey but definitely worth very penny. The servings were generous, and every dish I tried was outstanding. The highlights for me were the Grilled Pork Dumplings — little pockets of tender tasty pork; the Deep Fried Sichuan Chicken With Chilli Pepper — deliciously tongue-teasingly tangy with Sichuan pepper and chilli; and the Braised Dong Po Pork Joint — out of this world deliciously tender flavour-packed pork! The cheesecake for dessert was pretty darn good too, but the mains and the starters were fabulous. I need to get another trip to Sichuan House — the best Chinese food I have had in a long time!

This was such a good meal. One of those ones when everything conspires to make it dining perfection; awesome food, great company and a really welcoming and interesting location. Ha that sounds like a really polite way of being incredulous that anyone managed to get me to Sauchiehall Street on a Saturday evening. It isn’t, I love Sauchiehall Street at the weekend. I might have been in Glasgow for 18 years but I still like nothing better than a spot of people watching on Sauchiehall, I like to imagine it narrated by David Attenborough! That said I wasn’t sure that eating on Sauchiehall Street even early on a Saturday evening was going to be fun, but Sichuan House is as far away from the ‘typical’ Sauchiehall Street noodle bar as you can get. It is, of course, decorated with heavy nods to the Orient — go figure! But in fairness it was done without tackiness, they did have a maneki-neko(beckoning cat) but so would I if g wasn’t such a grump. The staff were great and bend over backwards to help, although that might be down to Austin and Trudie’s Frequent Flyer status… We ordered the banquet and I think everybody was blown away. Every single dish that was brought to the table was raved about, demolished and then the dish scraped just to make sure. Thank heavens that the table had a lazy Susan — whizzing it round to steal dishes is the way forward. The banquet is pricy at £30 a head but the amount of food that you get for that £30 makes it pretty good value. I’m not going to pretend I can remember everything that I scoffed but I know that the list included: — Dumplings RIbs, Spicy beef Seaweed Spring rolls Steamed Sea Bass Scallops Chinese Broccoli Kung Po Prawns and Chicken — super spicy and amazing Pork fillet Lamb The most amazing aubergine and potato dish noodles rice AND equis ice cream Just writing this review is making me wonder how I can engineer another trip.

Went to this restaurant by accident as dumpling restaurant next door is full. But we are happily surprised how good it is!!! Peking duck served in pancakes is amazingly yummy with two bonus dishes of pepper salt fried duck and duck soup with veggies. Taiwanese three cups chicken is very well made with very tasty sauce of ginger and Chinese wine! Other than food, the atmosphere the ambience and the service is second to none. A truly hot one not to be missed.

Truly brilliant. It says something about a restaurant that you can have a banquet on 2 occasions that involved a significant amount of food and not have a single duff dish. Sichuan House is up there for my favourite Chinese restaurant in Glasgow, with only Ka Ka Lok really up there with it. As I said, I’ve been here for 2 banquets, but that isn’t all they do, and you should go here no matter how big your party. The staff are friendly, and have always put up with us asking daft questions and trying to push the limits of the banquet to get as much food as we can. It’s difficult to pick out highlights really, as it’s all good. Anything in the Kung Po style is fantastic, and tastes really different from what you get at other Chinese restaurants. There is a sea bass dish that’s absolutely phenomenal, and the starters are all really good, even the ribs, which are something that I wouldn’t normally go for. Even the desserts are good — Equi’s ice cream, a pretty good cheesecake, and even sparklers if you choose the right thing! One word of warning though, things can get quite spicy, so if you’re not a fan of anything hot maybe ask the staff before you order! It’s well worth heading to Sauchiehall Street to go to; there isn’t really much else around it that’s worth going to(although Thairiffic gets an honourable mention) but it’s a really, really good restaurant.

Sichuan House has quickly become a favourite of mine following a few visits recently. First up was for a fabulous UYE organised by Austen M for Dumpling Day where we ended up going way overboard and getting a banquet. To say it was a feast doesn’t really do it justice! We had a very adorable bub at our table(son of Roz M) and the staff were so sweet and attentive with him which I thought was really nice! We returned last night for some dinner without a booking and they quickly got us a table of 5 without any fuss. The restaurant was packed but it’s nice to be able to walk in off the stress on a Friday and get a table. We decided to each order a main, and then a few sides/rice to share. Again, dumplings featured(sensing a theme here?!) and they are clearly house made as the pastry is a little thicker than usual, and they have a lovely flavour to the pork mince inside. I chose Dan Dan Noodles for my main and these were pretty firey(two chillis on the Sichuan meter!) but a real highlight. The noodles tasted house made too, there was a nice amount of mince and chilli sauce over the noodles. I always love an aubergine dish and the sea spiced aubergine in pot was delicious — thick slices of well-cooked aubergine with a nice flavoursome sauce. Sarah A ordered the fried intestines which I tried but can’t say that I totally loved it — they were very crispy and very porky but not something I’d order again myself, if I’m perfectly honest! Service here is warm and friendly, and they’ll answer any questions you have about the menu and tell you if you’ve ordered too much. We all had a round of beers and the bill came to about £25 each which is pretty good value.

The restaurant has a calm, serene feel to it with lots of muted colours and lush comfy velvet chairs — it really is a lovely restaurant to spend a few hours in. I have to be honest — since I was at a very loud boisterous(yes drunk!) table — I wasn’t overly aware of the staff as we were all too busy laughing constantly. Based on my small interaction with the staff though, they seemed pleasant enough and we had no issues. The menu is… baffling!!! There were so many dishes that I didn’t even know where to start. In the end, I let Austen and his lovely lady Trudie — who have eaten here lots — just pick some dishes for us to share. Naturally, since it was dumping day, we started with some absolutely delicious dumplings, which were beautifully plump and stuffed full of tasty meat filling. I also got a potion of spare ribs, which was huge. The ribs were beautifully tender and the meat just fell off the bone. For the main course, we had lush Kung Po Prawns(my favourite dish). This was incredibly tasty and contained fat juicy prawns in a very light batter. We also tried an aubergine and potato dish(I can’t recall the name sadly), which came in a lovely meaty gravy. The last dish I tried was the Double Cooked Sliced Pork which was delicious and packed full of tons of beautifully prepared pork. I would happily order each of these dishes again. I was excited to discover that they sell my favourite Equi Ice Cream and couldn’t resist ordering the Mint Sensation Sundae which arrived with a sparkler — YES A SPARKLER!!! It is safe to say that this was a serious highlight for a table full of drunk Unilocalers. Although I couldn’t even come close to finishing it, I really enjoyed the creamy ice cream sundae which was over flowing with sauce and marshmallows. As I was sharing my food with other people, we split the bill… our share came to about £65 for Mr G and I who both had a 3 course meal. I was happy enough with the price and thought it was great value for money.

Like most people, for me, a Chinese meal is something you eat in the comfort of your own home in front of your TV, not something you would necessarily go out to eat, so when Unilocal Glasgow organised Dumpling Day 2 at Sichuan House on Sauchiehall Street, my expectations weren’t exactly sky high — but they should have been! After looking at the menu online, I was a little scared as it was full of strange dishes that included things like jellyfish, pork intestines and frogs legs! I’m told these dishes are all quite traditional, as when Sam saw the menu, he got very excited. Having lived in Hong Kong for four years, he thought the menu looked really authentic, so I was interested to see if it would live up to his expectations. The décor in the restaurant is very simple but elegant, all focused on a red and black colour scheme, with marble table tops and simple place settings — chop sticks only! We were given the menu and because there was such a big group of us, were offered the option of a banquet, where carefully selected dishes would simply be brought to us in waves so that we could sample lots of different things. Unfortunately it was a little bit pricey and not to everyone’s budget, so we ended up ordering individually. I went for pork dumplings to start, while Sam opted for Salt & Chilli squid. The dumplings came as a quite substantial portion of four, with a Chinese vinegar dip. They were steamed and finished off in the pan, with a nice crunchy side and a flavoursome, meaty filling. Sam’s squid was beautiful — lovely and crisp, spicy and salty. I think a lot of the people on the table were jealous of it! For our main course, Sam and I decided to order half a Peking Duck. This isn’t like your normal, crispy aromatic duck from the takeaway; this is a more traditional version which serves the succulent and yummy breast meat on a platter, with a super crisp, browned skin, along with pancakes, cucumber, spring onion and hoi sin sauce. They then told us that the bones could either be used to make a broth, or salt & chilli style. We opted for salt & chilli, and they almost stole the show. The wings and other bones had been covered in the same salt and chilli mix that Sam’s squid had, and then deep fried so it was super crisp. It was delicious! On the side we had also ordered the Singapore Rice Noodles, which in hindsight we really didn’t need, but they were very tasty and filled with chicken, pork, prawns, peppers and chillies. Surprisingly, we somehow ended up ordering dessert as well! I ordered Strawberry & Prosecco sorbet, while Sam opted for a massive chocolate brownie sundae, complete with sparkler! The ice cream came from Equis, which has a reputation for providing great quality, and it was tasty but I was instantly filled with regret for eating so much! The meal ended up being pretty pricey, with the cost of three courses each, a side, three cocktails and four beers coming to the hefty price of around £90. It was a lot, and part of that was my fault for drinking cocktails, part of it was ordering the noodles and desserts we didn’t need, but the duck and the starters were 100% worth the money. The service and the quality of food we received were outstanding, and Sichuan House is definitely going to be my go-to Chinese now! I wonder if they would consider doing take away…

Having spent the afternoon at the Paisley Beer Festival, I was ready for some tasty foods and WOW did Sichuan House deliver! My first visit here, and definitely not my last, was as part of a large party so when the manager suggested he give us a ‘banquet’ option — fixed price per head and a mix of dishes — there was little hesitation around the table. Mixed starters include a very nice spring roll, not greasy at all and with a nice dusting of … something spicy! The dumplings were good too! Alas it does mean I can’t name many of the dishes but from memory I can recommend the sweet and sour pork — a wonderfully sharp but not that sweet dish — and the chilli chicken which isn’t for the faint hearted as it’s more chilli and chicken! Everything I tried was tasty, some of it very spicy, some of it not at all, a good mix of dishes for sure, the steamed sea bream was very delicate and delicious, all accompanied with rice and noodles. Desserts were a little more ‘western’ in style but as they included a baked vanilla cheesecake so that’s an extra bonus in my book! If you are going in a group, it’s a fantastic option, and great value for money, we literally couldn’t fit all the food on the lazy susan in the centre of the table. Bonus mention for the fantastic staff, friendly, quietly efficient and really made a difference to our evening. So, great grub, great value for money, great staff, and a lot of authentic dishes on their A La Carte menu which means I’ll be back to try them!

We went in here for dumpling day which was really an excuse to try out some lovely Sichuan food and wow did they deliver it! You walk in and its very nicely decorated with lotus flower light coverings, oriental partitions, large marble style round tables with a huge lazy susan in the middle with smaller 2 and 4 seater tables around the restaurant too. So we were offered the a la carte menu after looking at the pre theartre and as there was so many of us the manager suggested a banquet option which is basically a whole load of food in a mixed bag. Some spicy, some not so spicy, few different meats, fish, green beans and some delicious rice and noodles all for a fixed price. Being the Unilocalers that we are we all opted for this option and boy was i so very happy that we did! The starters came and they were delicious, some lovely crunchy spring rolls with spicy stuff on top, pork dumplings, spicy chili beef and some gorgeous cripsy seaweed. The seaweed in particular was delicous as i usually find it akin to eating fried cable ties. Bring out the mains! We physically didnt have enough space for all the food which is impressive considering the lazy susan is about 2 foot across lol. Things such as steamed sea bass, sichuan pork and various types of spicy and not so spicy meals in various shades of colours, spices and textures assailed our senses. This came with delicous egg rice and noodles too. Also a nice wee vegetable plate with garlic and chilli green beans. The food was astounding unlike other places where the sichuan beef options are sometimes dry and lifeless or the pork options fatty and gristly the Sichuan House delivered a veritable feast for our tastebuds. Then came the dessert and the only sticky point of the night. We all ordered our various desserts from pinneaple and banana fritters to manhattan cheesecake and my option of equis ice cream. Unfortunately i was forgotten about and had to ask for the mint ice cream again. Asked one of the servers and another came up to ask what i had asked for. I can only gather the lady had a little trouble with my glasgow accent or speed ot talking so i re ordered again with the third lady. Yaaay ice cream turned up… it was vanilla. Whoops! lol On the flip side though we were dining with a large group complete with a tiny child of which numerous members of staff practically fell over themselves to entertain i cant really blame them for a tiny slip up. I would definetely come back here!

Winner Winner Chinese dinner. I have now been to SH a few time now and it seems to impress me every time. Massive selection of food on the menu. Everything from Kung Po dished to Veggies in garlic. The dumplings are excellent too! The best way to get the full experience is to order a couple of dishes between the group and share! The dishes are large so be careful non big eaters!!! On the first visit there was 3 in the party and we order 6 dished and rice. The rice comes in a one big pot, they normally bring enough per person. The double cooked pork is outstanding along with the Kung PO prawns. The staff are excellent Friendly and helpful. If you have any questions they are always happy to help. In both occasions we have not booked and there has been a table but it does get very busy round peak times. Best to book to avoid disappointment.

It’s update time and I’m thrilled to award Sichuan House a fifth star. I have been back to Sichaun House now many times and I must say I have never had a single bad meal. The quality of the food is simply outstanding. It’s hard for me to judge how authentic the food is but speaking to the exceptionally passionate staff and management tells me this is about as close to the real deal as we can expect in the UK. The majority of customers are also Chinese which is another good sign. I’ve had various pork, seafood and veggies dishes and each time I have been blown away by the taste and quality. The exotic Sichuan spice mix is just so moreish and I have to admit I am slightly addicted to this place now. Its open late most night and take customers until around 11pm so its also a great place to go after a few drinks. Winner all round. Love this place P. S. Sichuan House is now open for lunch too!

The first restaurant we went to was closed, the second was fully booked. We then proceeded to slip about about on the ice rink that had taken over every bit of pavement in sight! TAXI! Thankfully our taxi journey took us to Sicuhan House and I had the best meal I can remember for a long long time. This place is magnificent! I ate till bursting, but it was worth it. I can’t wait to go back. Menu consisted of the following — Kung Po Prawns Xing xang beef Double cooked spicy pork Ten dumplings Pak choi in garlic Aubergine and potatoes Steamed rice 6 tsing Tao This was consumed between three of us and was more like a banquet than a meal. It tasted immense. My favourites were the beef, prawn and aubergine dishes, but I would recommend them all as being brilliant bar the pak choi which was just nice. Price wise it was not cheap at 95 quid for the three of us. The food on offer meant it was well worth it though. My new favourite Chinese restaurant. You got to try this place. 5 stars!

We used to live in Toronto’s Chinatown, and when we first moved to Glasgow, we were disappointed with the quality of the Chinese food. No longer — this is really delicious, authentic stuff. We were heading out to a gig afterward and didn’t want to carry leftovers. We ordered two entrees from their specials menu(bean curb with sliced pork and oil-dripped noodles — much, much better than it sounds) and nothing else — just tea and wine. It worked out well, portion-wise, and both dishes were fantastic. They give you a little appetiser plate with peanuts, cucumber salad and seaweed, BTW — very nice. This place is a winner and we are looking forward to trying more of their food.

I’ve been here three times since it opened and the food has been constantly good and I’m judging this from an Hong Kong born person standard. There are a lot of very authentic Chinese dishes on the menu eg chilli crabs, fish spice aubergine hot pot, poach chicken with ginger and spring onion dip, chinese greens stir fry like Kai Lan and morning glories etc and I recommend them all as not only they taste good but also you don’t normally find them in a typical take away. Deco is sleek, services is always friendly and price is reasonable I think. Though they have the normal typical Chinese dishes on the menu which are more tailor for the westerner taste eg sweet and sour pork etc however I would highly recommend you to get out of your comfort zone and try something really authentic here! Most customers there are Chinese so it must be a good sign don’t you think?

Here’s a new kid on the block where China Buffet King(Sauchiehall Street) used to be. In fact, this restaurant is no child’s play and far exceeds expectations for a new opening. From food quality, presentation, décor to service, everything’s well polished and tip top by local Chinese restaurant standards. True Sichuan aficionados will probably disagree with the level of spiciness and tastebud«numbingness» that is synonymous with Sichuan cuisine but the owners have taken a que from local heat tolerance and toned done the chilli factor a touch to make the food more palatable for the general crowd. One of the must try dishes is the Sichuan deep fried chicken. If you don’t mind bones in chicken and alittle bit of heat, go for it !! Spicy langoustine is a rendition of the common spicy Sichuan sauce«with any meat/veg/seafood» dish done with local seafood. Finally, we ordered a steam fish dish which was delicately sweet and fresh.
