I had a group on voucher to use at this salon for a cut and blow dry. The stylists name was Ryan and I was very very pleased with my new do. I’m a bit paranoid when it comes to getting my hair cut so I was really pleased that he listened to what I was after and didn’t just let loose on the scissors. Ill definitely go back but I’ll probably wait till I get another group on deal or 5pm deal or something cos the normal city centre prices can be a bit expensive. They also have a beauty bit upstairs for tanning and waxing and the like. Lovely clean and tidy salon too.

So, I bought a voucher for this place off , for a cut, blow dry, conditioning treatment and T-bar colour, for £32. Usually my red locks are dyed at home, but for summer I decided I needed a wee lift, so intended to get some subtle blondey-coppery highlights put through. Not a great start. Sat waiting for 15 minutes before I was even acknowledged(and I had to make the first move). No apology for the wait. When I was seen, I explained that I wanted to keep the length but wanted some highlights put in — but NOT to look incredibly drastic a la Geri Halliwell! Nick who was my hairdresser recommended some honey coloured highlights which sounded nice, and he got started with the foils. He made some chat as he went, which was fine but as it was a Friday night, I would have been up for sitting with my nose in my mag! Anyway, once the foils were on(for an hour, it’s around 6 by this point) he had a look and the colour wasn’t coming on as he wanted, so he put it under heat for about another 45mins. Then looked again and he said some bits were OK but some needed to be lighter… so again under the heat for another 15 minutes… at this point it’s about 7pm and my hair hasn’t even been cut, and the place is meant to close at 6, so it was just him and I in the salon, which I found a bit odd. Eventually the foils came off, treatment in for 5 minutes and he got to cutting, blow drying and straightening. I should mention that I had my glasses off and I am VERY short sighted so couldn’t see a thing really — but when he was straightening my hair I did think… oh my word my hair looks almost grey it’s that blonde. When he eventually finished just before 8, I put my glasses on and… hello neddy Geri Halliwell hair. But of course I was so bloody knackered and it was 8pm on a Friday night so I just handed over my voucher and went home where I inspected the handiwork over the weekend. My hair was(still is) absolutely frazzled at the ends, and the colour went really horribly with the red throughout the rest of my hair. The cut itself was OK, but the terrible work with the colour really made that a secondary concern. So, I dyed over it twice with a semi permanent colour which improved the colour and condition, I phoned the salon back to complain and they told me to go in so they could see it, but to be honest I just left it as I really don’t trust them. They never should have left such strong bleach on my hair for that long, and I’ll go somewhere else I trust to repair the worst of the damage. OH and the charming hairdresser, when chatting about other hairdressers force-selling products, advised ‘I know I would never do that. I mean I could tell you that you have dandruff, but you know that better than me’. :-O I have NEVER had a hairdresser say that I have dandruff, and even if I do, why on earth would a good hairdresser point it out?! Really awful experience, will not return.
