Fancied alot of food, was in one of my rare greedy moods so buffet was on the cards. We were drawn in by the bright sign, the fact that this used to be chukokus and recent reviews for another buffet restaurant being pants and recent. When i go to these places i realign my expected view. I dont expect the best meats, the most delicious food or the best presentation. This place ticked all the boxes for me. The choice was pretty large but not really a world buffet so to speak. This was more of a large choice of chinese meals with a few added extras of tacos, look warm pizza and some pasta dishes… with peas in… i left those alone lol. But for what it is the choice was good, the meats were of a decent quality if a little dry when not in a sauce, the variety was top notch with different curry styles from sweet and sour to chilli and back to our regular curry sauce. I was also quite impressed with the dessert variety, all sorts of little cakes, patiserries and things like apple strudels. All store bought but tasty enough! The service was of a decent standard, they were attentive and thankfully not like vultures awaiting your plate to empty just to swoop and we didnt feel rushed to finish which quite alot of these places can feel like. All in all this place lived up to my expectations, tasty enough food, plenty of it but not something to amaze the tastebuds.

I’ve not been in the UK for a while and just drove past this recently. I love buffets so I thought i’d try it out. I was fooled by the bright and colourful sign outside«FEAST» thinking it looked quite nice and fancy, effort had been put into this surely it’s going to be ok. How wrong was I. We went in and was greeted by a chinese waitress, she was nice. However I don’t think she was really that experienced in waitressing as there was an awkward silence for a few seconds while we just sort of stared each other down before she asked if we had been there before before taking our drinks order. Now to the food. I’m chinese, so I like to try out different chinese restaurants to see if it is anything close to tasting like good chinese food. Nope. This was basically another China Buffet King. Yes there was quite a variety of dishes, but none really looked THAT appealing. But never judge a book by it’s cover right? Well, in this case, the food tasted about as good as it looked. The meat was dry, the food was warm, the rice and pasta dishes were dry as if it had been left covered for a couple of hours. Food in general was kinda tasteless.

The previous eatery was called Chukoku and not China China as the previous reviewer said, they have hung fresh wallpaper, shame half of the wallpaper was hung upside down, takes a good eye to spot that though and given the toilets a lick of paint. Sadly the food is still the same bland rubbish that was there before, still Luke warm, the microwave at the back has now gone. More effort has been placed on flashing neon lights than the buffet where most containers are not topped up. I bought a can of tea with my meal, to find that it was out of date by quite a considerable amount of months. I prefer the old restaurant when they at least had the microwave, now all you have is Luke warm food.
