There are two stunning take-aways on Great Western. This is one of them. The kebabs taste great on fresh made chapatis. The fries are hot when they are layered with cheese or curry sauce. Hot, fresh and great tasting. These are rare words when you describe a late night place that serves food to drunks but these guys don’t skimp. Great choice if you are at this end of the Great Road of the West.

Good enough kebab place in perhaps the only stretch of Great Western Road that isn’t littered with such establishments. Morello’s offers much of the same fare you can expect from similar hot food takeaways– kebabs, chips, pizzas, burgers etc… Its tasty, cheap and just what you require when you leave one of the nearby pubs. This place is particularly handy post-gig at the Captain’s Rest.

Ask me sober if this place is any good i i’ll probably say its just an average take away joint selling the usual deep fried mystery food that the rest of the lot do… however, corner me in a bar when i have partaken in the delights of beer and your likely to receive a glowing report on the vast array of all the delightful culinary treats awaiting the tongue in this sent from heaven take away… aye One things for sure, they do one of the largest, large portions of chips and cheese this side of heaven… yeah sure you can go for the regular portion but for a mere 60p more you can get the mammoth portion… Go big or go home, or indeed go big and go home… yum!!!

The standard in your average spit ‘n’ sawdust takeaway seems to be fairly uniform across the board. They all use the exact same burgers /chips, and a kebab of any sort will always make you feel like you’ve just considerably shortened your life expectancy. Pizzas however, are a different story at such outlets. Done well, they can send Domino’d home with it’s tail between it’s legs, done bad, they can put you off your food for a week. The spicy mince, pepperoni and jalapeño creation I had here was a cholestrol-laden delight, and only £6. Full marks.

I think that given the amount of places to eat on Great Western Road competition is fierce; restaurants and takeaways have to be of a high standard to have any possible chance of success. I think Morello’s is OK, it isn’t anything to rant and rave about. They have a good menu to choose from but between my friends there are mixed reviews but I have no reason to give it a bad review. Quite a nice chip shop to be in, and a good choice, average food though.

Does it get any better than this place? Kebabs are freshly cooked and served on a mini-nan bread! tremendous!
